Role Overview
A national fuel and retail organisation with over 4,200 employees is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead its people strategy. This role requires a strong HR leader with extensive labour relations and transformation expertise, capable of aligning HR with business growth while driving cultural change, performance, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
Design and implement a national HR strategy aligned with growth and transformation goals.
Act as a strategic advisor to the MD and Exco on people and culture.
Lead organisational design and change management to support business expansion.
Talent Management & Workforce Planning
Oversee national recruitment and selection processes.
Drive succession planning, leadership development, and learnerships in collaboration with Training & Development.
Develop and implement employee wellness and retention strategies.
Employee & Industrial Relations
Ensure compliance with labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EE, SDA).
Manage unions, collective bargaining, and dispute resolution.
Promote a workplace culture of fairness, transparency, and performance.
Performance & Reward
Manage performance management systems across the group.
Oversee remuneration, incentives, and employee benefits strategies.
Ensure payroll compliance and integration with HR operations.
HR Operations & Compliance
Implement efficient HR Information Systems (HRIS) and reporting structures.
Ensure compliance with Employment Equity and B-BBEE requirements.
Draft, update, and enforce HR policies in line with organisational needs.
Culture, Transformation & Diversity
Drive B-BBEE and Employment Equity initiatives to meet transformation targets.
Champion a culture of empowerment, service excellence, and innovation.
Enhance internal communication to strengthen employee engagement.
Role Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related field (postgraduate advantageous).
1015 years HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership role within the fuel/retail/QSR sector (non-negotiable).
Proven ability to manage HR across a workforce of 4,000+ employees.
Strong expertise in labour relations, B-BBEE, and Employment Equity.
ERP/HRIS systems experience and advanced HR reporting capability.
Advantageous: experience in petroleum or convenience retail.
