Job Summary We are searching for a Senior Herpetologist. The successful candidate will join our growing biodiversity team and provide specialist reptile and amphibian input into faunal surveys and broader ecological surveys. Qualification required: Relevant Masterxc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2s degree or Honours degreexc3x82 Preferred Qualification: This formal qualification must be a relevant scientific degree with a major in the Zoological sciences, and in the absence of this, significant experience relating to Herpetology will be required. For example, extensive fieldwork, scientific publications and a good track record of specialist reports Experience required: A relevant Masterxc3xa2xe2x82xacxe2x84xa2s degree with at least 2 years of experience or an Honors' degree with at least 5 years experience is required Duties/Responsibilities: The candidate will join our growing biodiversity team and provide specialist reptile and amphibian input into faunal surveys and broader ecological surveys. We currently have in-house skills in avifauna, mammals, and vegetation science, and seek to supplement this with an in-house Herpetologist. Working knowledge of the Species Environmental Assessment guideline (SANBI, 2020) and related South African standards are required. As we work extensively in Africa, the candidate must be willing to travel. Knowledge of the IFC Performance Standards, and especially Performance Standard 6 on biodiversity will be a distinct advantage. The candidate must also have a clear knowledge of appropriate sampling strategies, and good reporting skills and be prepared to work as part of a likeminded team of specialists.
