A relevant Bachelor's Degree (NQF 7) in Architecture, Archaeology,
Urban Planning and Design, History, Urban Conservation, a relevant
built environment degree, Heritage Management or related
qualification
At least 5 years relevant experience in a heritage management or
related field;
Supervisory experience advantageous
Sound knowledge and understanding of heritage legislation and
practice
Computer proficiency in MS Office & SAP
A valid Motor Vehicle licence
Physically fit and able-bodied.
Registration with the South African Council of Architect Practitioners
(SACAP) and/or Association of Professional Heritage Practitioners
(APHP) Preferred.
Key Performance Areas
Provides Heritage Management inputs into the City's strategic
forward planning, policy and project initiatives for District
Ensures consistent application of Heritage Legislation and
procedures in activities and developments
Ensure compliance with statutory and City requirements and to
optimize resources
To provide heritage resource management and effectively and
continuously improve motivational levels, and identify weaknesses as
early as possible.
Provides Financial Control and Contract Management assistance
and advice
Proactively improve or conserve the environmental and heritage
resources of the District/Section .
Ensuring developmental assessment processes are legislatively
compliant from an Environmental, Heritage and Outdoor Advertising
point of view.
To provide District-wide/local participation, mutual support,
ownership and duty of care to environmental and heritage assets in
line with regulatory laws and strategy
