Senior Head of Content - Cape TownFull job descriptionDescription of the roleThis senior role calls for someone who is passionate about the power of communication, an exceptional editor and writer, and a talented strategic thinker with experience developing brand messaging that helps to transform business trajectories.You will lead the creative team of tw designers and one communications specialist, and our network of freelancers, ensuring that all content created is of exceptional quality and in-line with our clientsxe2x80x99 business priorities. You will work closely with the Communications Director, as the second most senior person on the team, and be involved in all strategic planning along with the Marketing Manager.The right fit for this role is someone who truly believes in the power that on-point communication and messaging can have for a business and has an extensive track record in communications or marketing.Who we areChelsea Communications is a Cape Town-based team skilled in communication and B2B marketing. The Chelsea Groupxe2x80x99s services range from humanitarian HR, clean water solutions, risk management and security, camp build and management for complex environments, crisis response and medical assistance, as well as leadership development.Chelsea Communications manages the marketing and communication for these pioneering and diverse companies and is looking for the right person to join the team, to lead on all content and communications.The kind of work that we deliver is broad, ranging across content creation that gets to the heart of a business, communication strategies, campaigns, branding and positioning, and certain PR needs.We are an agile, committed team that values a positive, community approach to our day-to-day working life. We are at an exciting stage, as we transition from department to internal agency and are looking for that dynamic someone to lead our content team into this exciting new chapter, and support the Communications Director on this journey.Role responsibilities:Working closely with our clients at C-Suite level, alongside communications director.Developing the strategic positioning of our clientsxe2x80x99 brands, including brand narrative and messaging.Ensuring that all content and communication for every brand is consistent, impactful, and relevant.Responsible for sign off of all content that comes through the studio.Overseeing and mentoring the creative design team (two designers) and the communications team (one communications specialist).Overseeing briefs for projects including copy and creative direction.Working closely with the communications director in this shift from department to internal agency, helping to create methodologies and lead the team.Working closely with our social impact manager on projects and communication plansOur work is varied here is a sample of the kind of work you would be involved in:Strategic repositioning of brands with regards to messaging, narrative and collateral, working closely with the CEOs of some of the groupxe2x80x99s emerging brands.Communication strategies - eg communicating with 10k humanitarians around the world.Crisis communicationsOverseeing press releases in response to media enquiries.Working closely with social impact team to develop sustainability and shared value strategies across the Group.Part of the brainstorming for creative concepts for marketing ouput.Qualifications/requirements:15+ experience in marketing or communications/PRFive years in a senior strategy role.Experience within an agencyRelevant degree in marketing, communications or PR, journalism or English.Client-facing experience: confident to liaise with our clientsxe2x80x99 CEOs and senior management.Exceptional writing and editing skills.An eye for detail, language, flow, grammar and an appreciation for the crafting of messaging.Proven ability to develop a brand voice.Experience managing a team of designers and copywriters.Ability to multitask and plan across a range of projects.Portfolio of work to share.Experience or an interest in Sustainability is advantageousWhat you'll get:An inclusive and supportive work environment.Working across a diverse portfolio of clients.A team that shares your passion for people and precision.The opportunity to make a real impact on brands' success stories.Be an integral part of a new agency.Need to know:Office is based in Newlands, Cape Town.Opportunity for hybrid work.Salary is dependent on experience.30 days leave.Benefits include medical aid and life insurance.
