Job Description
A luxury Big 5 safari lodge within a private reserve is seeking a SENIOR HEAD GUIDE to lead and manage the guiding department and oversee all safari operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences while maintaining the highest standards of safety, conservation, and professionalism. The lodge is based within a private game reserve in the Limpopo area and will be a live-in position.
Candidate Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the safari guiding team
- Conduct guided game drives and bush walks
- Ensure compliance with FGASA, reserve, and safety protocols
- Oversee guide training, assessments, and ongoing development
- Manage safari operations, including vehicles, guiding equipment, and standards
- Work closely with lodge management and conservation teams
- Ensure outstanding guest satisfaction and interpretive guiding excellence
- FGASA Professional Field Guide (NQF Level 3 or higher)
- Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH)
- Trails Guide qualification (VPDA)
- Valid First Aid (Level 2 minimum)
- Valid PrDP
- Minimum of 5 years' guiding experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of wildlife, ecology, and conservation
- Professional, guest-focused approach with strong leadership skills
