WATER AND SANITATION Senior GIS Technician



Requirements



3-year National Diploma in GIS or related field. 2 - 5 years' relevant post qualifying experience required. Proven proficiency in Geographic Information Systems

(ESRI ArcGIS desktop software) and MS Office.



Knowledge of GIS, relational databases, cartography and

data analysis.



License: Code B / EB Good communication and analytical skills. Registration with SAGC as GISc Technician or Technologist

will be advantages



Key Performance Areas



Provide an efficient GIS support function to Reticulation

management Branch, associated with map production, data



capturing, data analysis and technical support.



Compile professional cartographic maps and map books. Capture, edit and maintain datasets in geodatabases. Respond to public enquiries by providing maps and data extracts. Manage the virtual drawing office by indexing and filing electronic

engineering drawings.



Provide GIS-related technical support to the branch. Capturing and monitoring of detailed asset type and location

information of all water and sanitation infrastructure.



Maintain spatial and non-spatial attributes of database entries. Liaising with contractors and other members of the operational

teams.
