Job Description



Job Purpose We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Finance Manager to join and lead our dynamic finance team in South Africa. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the reporting and managing of the finance function in our South African entity and will be an important member of the group finance team. The Senior Finance Manager will collaborate closely with various departments and regional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to accounting policies and standards. Key Job Functions 1. Financial Reporting:

  • Management of month-end close processes in line with group reporting timetables.
  • Review of all financial records to ensure they are in line with company policies and IFRS.
  • Review of monthly general ledger reconciliations.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts including detailed analysis of movements in key line items.
  • Preparation of annual financial statements in line with IFRS.
  • Ensure all accounting activities and internal as well as external audits comply with financial and tax regulations.
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Preparation and analysis of cash flow forecasts and free cash flows to meet business needs.
  • Working capital calculations and analysis.
  • Provide insightful commercial information and financial analysis to guide strategic and operation decisions across the company.
  • Review proposed contracts and other potential transactions and advise finance and business leaders of the accounting implications.

2. Finance Operations
  • Lead a team of financial and administrative assistants and provide consistent feedback to improve performance.
  • Assess financial risks and opportunities, making recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and work closely with tax advisors to optimize tax strategies.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of tax returns.
  • Build relationships with relevant stakeholders by building and managing internal and external customer relationships.
Experience/ Skills and Competencies
  • Experience working in the Telecommunication and Financial Services industry (preferred, but not required)
  • Proven track record in drafting Annual Financial Statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other ERP systems (preferred, but not required)
  • Highly motivated and driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and budgeting
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Experience in financial risk management and strategic financial decision-making
  • Background in conducting financial audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Ability to effectively communicate financial data and insights to non-financial stakeholders
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and due diligence processes
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance principles and practices
  • Ability to develop and implement financial strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
Education, Licences & Certifications
  • Chartered Accountant (South Africa)
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Master's in Business Administration (MBA)
