A BCom degree or equivalent
5 years' experience in financial roles with administrative management
Accounting and financial management skills
High level computer literacy (ERP, Excel, ORACLE systems)
Excellent communication, writing, reporting and negotiation skills
Excellent computer skills, proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with academic and support staff, students, and external role players
People management skills, punctual, deadline driven, proactive, decisive, professional, a team player, honest, courteous, at all times
Work effectively, efficiently, and independently with minimum supervision
An understanding Oracle and Business Object Systems, the University's Administrative and Financial procedures and systems would be advantageous
Key responsibilities include:
Financial Management
Management of finances of multiple funding sources that includes responsible for the Planning of the School's Budget, Project Management, Internal and External Projects, Research Incentive Grants, Advances, Subsistence, Reimbursements, Donations, Invoicing, Debtors, Creditors, Procurement, Bursaries and Stipend Payments, Reconciling of accounts, Journals, Audits, Petty Cash, Stores, Recoveries and Audit and Control.
Administration
Management of School Assets, Teaching Assistant payments, Assisting with Conferences, Workshops, Functions and Events and meetings with financial, administrative and laboratory facilities staff.
Staff Management
Management of direct subordinates in the school.
General
Compliance with University policies and procedures. Advise academic staff on funding options. Monthly Finance meetings with the Head of School and the Faculty Business Manager.
