Senior Environmental Management Practitioner
for our construction and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be pivotal in upholding our commitment to sustainable and compliant project execution, managing complex environmental risks in sensitive development environments.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and rigorously monitor the project's construction-phase
Environmental Management Programme (EMP)
.
Conduct frequent, detailed site inspections and environmental audits to proactively identify and mitigate environmental risks (e.g., waste, hazardous substances, soil erosion, water pollution).
Ensure full project adherence to all applicable Environmental Authorizations (EAs), Permits, the
National Environmental Management Act (NEMA)
, and local by-laws.
Serve as the primary liaison between the Contractor, the Client, the Principal Agent, and relevant environmental statutory bodies.
Oversee all reporting, documentation, and close-out procedures related to environmental performance and compliance.
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
Candidates must possess a
Tertiary Qualification (Minimum NQF Level 7)
, which should be a Bachelor's Degree/BTech/Honours in a relevant field such as
Environmental Science/Management
, Natural Sciences, or the
Built Environment
(e.g., BSc Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management) coupled with a demonstrable specialization or post-graduate qualification in Environmental Management. This role carries a
non-negotiable
requirement for a minimum of
10 years
of verifiable, post-qualification experience in environmental control and management, specifically within the construction/infrastructure development sector. Crucially, the applicant must have
mandatory current and verifiable professional registration
Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA)
or as a
Professional Natural Scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat)
with the
South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP)
, in the relevant field.
