CONTEXT | THE ROLE





As a Senior Digital Communications Designer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing high-impact visual narratives for CRM journey campaigns across multiple channels, including email, app notifications, and WhatsApp. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, CRM managers, developers, and other stakeholders, to manage the visual aspects of the communication lifecycle. This role requires excellent organisational skills, a deep understanding of visual storytelling and motion graphics, and the ability to anticipate and resolve design challenges to keep campaigns on track.




ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES | THE WHAT & THE HOW





THE ESSENTIALS




Campaign Design and Execution:




Develop and implement comprehensive design assets for CRM journeys, defining visual direction, timelines, and deliverables for Email, WhatsApp, and App Notifications. Create compelling motion graphics and visual designs that drive user engagement and retention. o Monitor and track design production progress, identifying and resolving potential blockers to ensure timely and successful campaign launches.

Motion Graphics & Visual Storytelling:




Utilize advanced motion graphics skills to bring static communications to life, particularly for app interfaces and rich-media messages. Ensure that the visual narrative aligns with the brand voice while optimizing for the technical constraints of different communication platforms (e.g., file sizes for email vs. app).

Team Collaboration:




Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, copywriters, and quality assurance, to ensure effective collaboration and communication. o Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting open communication and knowledge sharing regarding design trends and best practices.

Stakeholder Management and Communication:




Serve as the primary point of contact for internal clients/stakeholders, understanding their campaign requirements, expectations, and feedback. Provide regular design updates to stakeholders, addressing any concerns and maintaining a strong working relationship. Ensure that the design scope is clearly understood and documented and that stakeholders are aligned with the delivery expectations. Communicate the Platform45 Way of Work that the team has adopted and ensure that stakeholders are informed if there are any changes. o Make sure that communication designs comply with regulatory requirements such as POPIA or GDPR (e.g., unsubscribe visibility).

Resource Management:




Manage design resources and asset libraries effectively to ensure optimal team performance and project delivery. o Identify and address any resource gaps or constraints (such as software needs or asset availability), working closely with relevant stakeholders.

Quality Assurance:




Ensure that campaign deliverables meet the highest quality standards and align with client expectations. Conduct thorough testing (QA) of designs across various devices and platforms (e.g., dark mode rendering, responsive email layouts) throughout the project lifecycle.



FINTECH AND CAMPAIGN EXPERIENCE




Proven experience managing design projects within Fintech or technology-driven startup environments, where agility, innovation, and speed to market are critical. Demonstrated ability to lead campaign-focused initiatives -- from ideation through to launch -- with a deep understanding of how technology and user experience intersect in digital communications. Evidence of working in fast-paced, scaling organisations, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining delivery excellence. Experience collaborating with product owners, UX/UI teams, and technical leads to align business objectives with product strategy and customer needs.



REQUIREMENTS




Bachelor's degree

in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

7+ years of experience

managing digital design projects, with a focus on CRM, marketing automation, or complex campaign initiatives.

Advanced knowledge of design and motion tools

, such as Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator), Figma, and prototyping platforms. Proven expertise in Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and traditional project management methodologies. Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving skills, including experience with risk assessment in campaign delivery (e.g., deliverability issues, rendering bugs). * Strong data analysis awareness to evaluate campaign performance (CTR, Open Rates) and inform strategic design decisions.
