This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of how a leading South African real time payment provider builds, deploys, secures and operates its systems. You will design and automate the infrastructure that supports millions of real time payment transactions nationally.
This Senior DevOps Engineer position is based in Cape Town or Johannesburg

THE ROLE
As the Senior DevOps Engineer, you will design, automate and operate the cloud infrastructure that supports real time payment systems for a national scale fintech. You will own how the organisation builds and deploys software by architecting CI/CD pipelines, automating environment provisioning and strengthening observability across distributed platforms. You will also manage cloud architecture, improve monitoring and alerting, resolve production issues and maintain the standards and runbooks that support a regulated, high growth environment.

• Work across Linux and Windows environments and apply deep systems knowledge to improve performance, stability and security.
• Reduce manual effort through automation and infrastructure as code to ensure reliable and consistent deployments.
• Collaborate with software engineers, QA, architecture and security teams to ensure all services run on a secure and dependable foundation.
• Guide teams on containerisation, Kubernetes, event driven patterns, cloud architectures and secure by design practices.
• Support the organisation's cloud native evolution toward serverless compute, container orchestration and fully automated workflows.

THE REQUIREMENTS
BSc in computer science or IT degree, preferably with AWS certifications
At least 5 years of work experience in a DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Cloud Engineering role.
Strong experience designing and automating CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, AppVeyor, Octopus Deploy, or AWS CodeDeploy.
Proven experience working with cloud-hosted infrastructure (AWS, Azure).
Hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration, including Kubernetes or AWS ECS.
Strong Linux and Windows systems administration skills.
