As a Senior Data Strategist at Vicinity Media, you will play a key role in shaping and optimising data-driven marketing strategies for some of South Africa's leading brands. This role blends advanced analytics, AI innovation, and strategic thinking to deliver measurable outcomes that drive campaign performance, customer engagement, and business growth.
You will act as a bridge between data science, technology, and client-facing teams, ensuring insights are not only robust but actionable. With experience in artificial intelligence, you will help integrate AI-driven solutions across dashboards, attribution models, audience targeting, and reporting.
Key performance areas and responsibilities
Data strategy and analysis
Develop and lead data strategies to maximise marketing performance across campaigns, platforms, and audiences.
Identify trends, correlations, and opportunities within large, complex datasets.
Translate analytical findings into actionable insights that inform decision-making for both clients and internal teams.
Oversee and refine attribution models (including AI/ML approaches) to better quantify campaign impact and ROI.
AI & Innovation
Leverage AI/ML tools and models (e.g., predictive analytics, clustering, NLP sentiment analysis) to enhance targeting, reporting, and campaign optimisation.
Champion the adoption of AI features within Vicinity's products (e.g., AI-driven dashboards, chatbots, automated newsfeeds, reputation insights).
Continuously explore emerging AI technologies and recommend practical applications to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
Business intelligence and campaign effectiveness
Develop advanced dashboards and reporting systems to monitor KPIs in real time.
Drive campaign effectiveness analysis, ensuring recommendations align with brand objectives.
Support audience segmentation, personalisation, and campaign uplift measurement.
Conduct competitor and market intelligence to identify growth opportunities.
Leadership & Collaboration
Mentor and guide Junior Data Strategists and Analysts.
Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Dev, Data Ops, Sales) to implement data-driven solutions.
Present insights and strategic recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders with clarity and impact.
Qualifications and experience
Bachelor's degree in Statistics ,Marketing, Marketing Analytics, or related field.
6-8 years of professional experience in data strategy, analytics, or business intelligence.
Proven experience with AI/ML applications in marketing, campaign optimisation, or customer insights.
Strong proficiency in SQL and data visualisation tools (Tableau, Looker Studio, Power BI).
Familiarity with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, GA4).
Experience with Python/R for data analysis and AI model building advantageous.
Strong knowledge of attribution modeling, audience segmentation, and digital campaign measurement
Experience in burgeoning AI techniques to automate data visulisation and interpretation
