About the team:
The Data community at Luno, comprising Data Engineers, Scientists, and Analysts, uncovers valuable insights from the vast amounts of data we gather from our customers and platform. These insights are crucial for guiding our product development and business strategy.
As a Data Scientist joining Luno, you would be part of the Data Science team providing high quality insights and data tools to teams across the company.
Our current technology stack includes Databricks and Looker.
The role in a nutshell:
As we accelerate on our mission to upgrade the world to a better financial system, we will need to understand how customers are using our product and what drives customers to engage in our platforms. You'll be focussed on this critical step of creating better information from multiple data sources to guide our decision making and help us build better products and improve our processes.
Your mission will be:

• Design and build pricing models and evaluation frameworks to guide and optimise pricing strategies
• Develop causal models using experiments and observational data to isolate and measure the impact of fee changes
• Initiate, design, and maintain high-quality data pipelines and models with strong attention to detail
• Synthesise findings into clear, actionable recommendations and communicate them effectively to senior leadership

• You are passionate about data science and related disciplines
• You have experience being a technical lead or mentor to other Data Scientists
• You can leverage data analytics to innovate and create out-of-the-box solutions
• You are intellectually curious and have the persistence to find answers to difficult questions
• You can diagnose problems using formal problem-solving tools and techniques
• You communicate technical concepts to non-experts in simple and helpful terms
• You are a team player, enthusiastic about growing and developing others
• You can handle uncertain and ambiguous scenarios
• You keep abreast of developments and emerging trends in Data Science, and influence what is next for Luno

The ideal Lunaut will have:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in the natural sciences or technical fields such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or Economics
• Exploratory data analysis, predictive analytics, and/or optimisation skills using Python or other data science-oriented platforms
• Advanced SQL skills
• Minimum 5 years experience in pricing experimentation, data analysis and statistical modeling
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex data and analysis to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work independently, as well as within and across teams
• Ability to successfully complete projects with large and/or incomplete data sets
• Enthusiasm to work in the crypto industry

What will really get you noticed:

• At least 5 years' experience working in a similar role
• Proven track record of analysing customer behaviour and translating insights into revenue growth
• Experience working with business intelligence platform such as Tableau, Cognos, QlikView, or Looker
• Solid knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques
• Experience with productionisng ML applications using a formalised ML Operations architecture
• Experience or interest working in crypto or fintech industries
