Who we're looking for:

A Senior Data Engineer to collaborate closely with the wider data engineering team on key strategy and partner with the wider business.

Where you'll work:

This role will be based in Cape Town, you'll be part of our global team, collaborating with colleagues and serving customers across the UK, USA, Australia, South Africa, and beyond. Our hybrid approach offers flexibility with regular team connection in our Cape Town office 3 days per week.

Day to day this role will

Building out a new DWH solution that will improve our data ingestion process. Play a pivotal role in migration to new systems. Work closely with Data leadership on strategy and architectural decisions. Collaborate closely with wider teams in the business such as Finance and RevOps. Improving our data documentation.

What we're looking for

Hands-on experience with Databricks but will consider Snowflake experience. Strong proficiency in building ETL/ELT workflows using tools such as dbt, PySpark, SQL, or Python Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar) Proven track record implementing medallion or layered data architectures, with an understanding of how to separate raw, cleansed, and curated data to serve different use cases. Exposure to no-SQL data stores (ElasticsSearch, Redis, DynamoDB, Cassandra, Presto, MongoDb, or similar.) Experienced using Python based data science tools (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib) and development best practices Experienced with using Git, or other source version control system Experience with a Cloud Provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure Knowledge of Linux and Bash. Strong sense of collaboration and experience working with development teams.

It's not essential, but we'd love to hear about it if you have experience with

Experience with building and deploying containers in Docker. Experience deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes. Experience in data modelling and data warehouse design, enabling efficient querying and consumption by downstream analytics and self-serve tools Exposure to MPP and columnar relational databases (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, Vertica, Grenplum, or similar) Exposure to data governance, quality, and lineage practices, including use of cataloging tools (e.g., Unity Catalog, or Snowflake Horizon) Exposure to business intelligence and analytics tools such as Power BI, Looker, or QuickSight Experience of instruction, and mentoring for the training of peers Knowledge of CI/CD processes
