Duties/Pligte
Duties and responsibilities of the role include:

Process ownership.

Taking ownership of a process within Bursaries and Student Finances and ensuring it is documented, processes are followed, and improvements are initiated and implemented. This includes internal controls; data capture, collection, and management; internal audits by auditing companies, with special focus on the year-end requirements for the annual audit and BEE data collection; special decisions registration and implementation; system improvements to address audit risks; and debt collection and loan management.

Strategic participation.

Participating in the strategic planning and implementation of Bursaries and Student Finances.

Financial data analysis and planning.

Conducting data analysis to support short- and long-term financial planning and strategic objectives. Performing daily, monthly and year-end reconciliations between various subsystems (e.g., bursaries, Student Fees accounts and the General Ledger). Supporting internal and external audits, providing working papers, transaction details and issuing resolutions where needed.

Standard Operating Procedures.

Adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures of Bursaries and Student Finances.

Relationships.

Professional and supportive internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Operational management.

Managing and coordinating staff within a specific environment or focus area.

Reporting to line manager.

Reporting operational matters to the line manager on a regular basis, as well as standing in for the line manager in their absence as operationally required.


Pligte en verantwoordelikhede van die rol sluit in:

Proses eienaarskap.

Neem eienaarskap van 'n proses binne Beurse en Studentefinansies en verseker dat dit gedokumenteer word, prosesse gevolg word en verbeterings geinisieer en geimplementeer word. Dit sluit interne beheermaatreels in; datavaslegging, -versameling en -bestuur; interne oudits deur ouditmaatskappye, met spesiale fokus op die jaareindvereistes vir die jaarlikse oudit en SEB-data-insameling; spesiale besluite, registrasie en implementering; stelselverbeterings om ouditrisiko's aan te spreek; en skuldinvordering en leningsbestuur.

Deelname aan die strategiese beplanning en implementering van beurse en studentefinansies.

Finansiele data-analise en -beplanning.

Uitvoer van data-analise om kort- en langtermyn finansiele beplanning en strategiese doelwitte te ondersteun. Uitvoer van daaglikse, maandelikse en jaareindrekonsiliasies tussen verskeie substelsels (bv. beurse, Studentegeldrekeninge en die Algemene Grootboek). Ondersteun interne en eksterne oudits, verskaf werkdokumente, transaksiebesonderhede en kwessie-oplossings waar nodig.

Standaard bedryfsprosedures.

Nakoming van die standaard bedryfsprosedures van Beurse- en Studentefinansies.

Verhoudings.

Professionele en ondersteunende interne en eksterne verhoudings met belanghebbendes.

Operasionele bestuur.

Bestuur en koordineer personeel binne 'n spesifieke omgewing of fokusarea.

Rapporteer aan lynbestuurder.

Rapporteer operasionele aangeleenthede op 'n gereelde basis aan die lynbestuurder, asook om in te staan vir die lynbestuurder in hul afwesigheid soos operasioneel vereis.



Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
Honours degree in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, or a related field. At least two years' previous experience in financial planning and analysis, data analysis, or a similar role. At least two to three years' managerial experience. Experience in interpreting and creating financial models as well as recent accounting practices. Proven abilities to plan, organise and prioritise. Proven complex operational problem solving and decision-making skills. Proven ability to effectively function within a multi-lingual and multi-cultural environment. An understanding of data models, as well as in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Excellent people management, including guidance within a team context and interpersonal relationships with students, colleagues and academic staff.


Honneursgraad in finansies, rekeningkunde, ekonomie, statistiek of 'n verwante veld. Minstens twee jaar se vorige ervaring in finansiele beplanning en analise, data-analise, of 'n soortgelyke rol. Minstens twee tot drie jaar se bestuurservaring. Ervaring in die interpretasie en skep van finansiele modelle sowel as onlangse rekeningkundige praktyke. Bewese vermoe om te beplan, te organiseer en te prioritiseer. Bewese komplekse operasionele probleemoplossings- en besluitnemingsvaardighede. Bewese vermoe om effektief binne 'n veeltalige en multikulturele omgewing te funksioneer. 'n Begrip van datamodelle sowel as diepgaande kennis van Microsoft Excel. Uitstekende mensebestuur, met inbegrip van leiding binne 'n spankonteks en interpersoonlike verhoudings met studente, kollegas en akademiese personeel.



Recommendation/Aanbeveling
Effective verbal and written communication skills in both English and Afrikaans. Proven computer skills.
