, a leading South African engineering and construction services provider with Level 1 BBBEE status, is seeking a highly skilled and professionally registered

Senior Construction Health and Safety Manager/Agent

to lead safety compliance on major infrastructure and building projects. This is a critical leadership role requiring deep expertise in the Construction Regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act).

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain the comprehensive project-specific

Health and Safety File

and SHE Management System in accordance with Construction Regulations (2014) and the OHS Act. Manage, mentor, and oversee the site-based Construction Health and Safety Officers (CHSOs). Conduct baseline, issue-based, and continuous

Risk Assessments

and monitor the effectiveness of control measures. Lead accident/incident investigations, reporting, and statutory compliance submissions to the Department of Employment and Labour. Serve as the primary liaison for all safety matters between the Principal Contractor, Client, and all statutory bodies (e.g., SACPCMP, Department of Employment and Labour). Facilitate and ensure mandatory safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks are conducted effectively.

Mandatory Qualifications & Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum

NQF Level 5/6 Diploma or NQF Level 7 Degree

in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or Environmental Health. This must be coupled with a minimum of

8 years

of verifiable, relevant experience in construction site safety management. This role carries a

non-negotiable

requirement for

mandatory current and verifiable professional registration

with the

South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP)

at the level of

Construction Health and Safety Manager (CHSM)

or higher as a

Professional Construction Health and Safety Agent (Pr. CHSA)

. Additional certifications such as

SAMTRAC

or

NEBOSH

are highly advantageous.
