The
Senior Commercial Associate
will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and executing Traderoot Africa's commercial strategy. This position requires extensive experience in the African Fintech industry, with a strong focus on business development, client acquisition, and relationship management. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to identify market opportunities, establish strategic partnerships, and enhance Traderoot's positioning in the financial services sector.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Execution:
Assist CCO with developing and implementing strategic commercial plans to achieve revenue targets and market expansion goals. Lead the end-to-end commercial process, from prospecting and lead generation to contract negotiation and deal closure for agreed market sized companies.
Business Development:
In conjunction with the CCO, identify new markets, partnerships and channels for growth, ensuring diversification of revenue streams across different sectors. Identify and prioritize key African markets, industries, and potential clients within the payments and financial technology space.
Go-To-Market:
Work closely with the CCO to create and drive the go to market strategy, leading sales efforts for both new and existing clients (cross sell and retention), optimizing sales functions to meet ambitious targets.
Market Expansion & Analysis:
Conduct market research, identifying emerging trends, customer needs, and opportunities for further market penetration across Africa. Utilise data-driven insights to make informative commercial decisions and create positioning in the market. Drive further penetration across the African continent.
Segmentation of Market:
Work closely with the CCO to segment current and potential clients and derive persona's for each. Ensure the strategy addresses means to penetrate segments with relevant products. Ensure the Commercial strategy addresses means to penetrate the segments with relevant products.
Revenue Generation & Diversification:
Assist the CCO to identify new markets, partnerships, and channels for sustainable business growth. Optimise existing revenue streams and explore innovative avenues for monetisation.
Customer Acquisition & Retention:
Oversee marketing and commercial initiatives to strengthen brand visibility and enhance customer experience. Guide marketing strategies to strengthen branch visibility, customer acquisition and retention. Enhance customer experience by promoting solutions/services/products. Lead cross functional collaboration between the Commercial department, Group marketing and product teams to align on customer needs and market demands. Work closely with Group Marketing to align efforts towards revenue generation. Ensure all product / service sales documentation is relevant and up to date across all marketing and sales channels. Identify opportunities for product enhancement or new offerings to drive commercial success. Establish and nurture client relationships in conjunction with the COO.
Market Development & Competitor Analysis:
In conjunction with the CCO conduct detailed market research to assess opportunities, industry trends, and competitive positioning. Analyse the regulatory landscape and emerging market trends to refine business strategies. Stay informed of competitor activities and innovations in the payments sector.
Pipeline Management & Revenue Growth:
Working closely with the CCO, develop and manage a robust sales pipeline, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives. Drive customer segmentation strategies, with the CCO to target key business opportunities. Set and achieve revenue targets for each African market segment. Provide regular commercial reports and analytics to support strategic decision-making.
Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and payment partners. Act as the primary point of contact for designated clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction. Provide feedback to the product development team to enhance solutions based on client needs. Develop retention strategies to strengthen client loyalty and maximize business opportunities.
Market Positioning & Product Expertise:
With guidance from the CCO position Traderoot Africa as a market leader in Fintech payment solutions. Work collaboratively with marketing teams to strengthen brand visibility and customer engagement. Ensure product positioning aligns with client needs and industry-specific requirements.
Leadership & Team Collaboration:
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior commercial team members. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and project management, to ensure strategic alignment. Foster a high-performance commercial culture within the organization.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and industry standards. Implement risk mitigation strategies to manage commercial and operational risks effectively.

Education:
