The Senior Carbon Project Developer develops and delivers carbon offset projects in diverse sectors, including renewable energy, waste management, agriculture, forestry, and Nature-Based Solutions. You'll be leading and supporting project owners and partners throughout the full project lifecycle--from early-stage design through to credit issuance under international carbon standards.
Key Responsibilities
Developing and Managing Projects:Designing carbon feasibility studies and developing Project Design Documents (PDDs)
Assessing emissions baselines and conducting surveys
Supporting validation, monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) processes under standards like Verra's VCS and Gold Standard o Participating in site visits, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery activities across locations
Scheduling quality reviews, coordinating deliverables, and supporting project certification
Sourcing and evaluating new project opportunities in collaboration with internal and external partners
Preparing documentation, technical assessments, and financial projections
Collaborating and Connecting:Engaging with project owners, clients, verification bodies, and other partners
Supporting a culture of knowledge-sharing and collaboration across teams
Building and maintaining networks with verification bodies, standard organizations, and technology providers
Representing Anthesis at events and sharing insights with peers and partners
Growing and Sharing ExpertiseStaying informed on international carbon markets and policy developments
Deepening your knowledge in thematic areas such as Nature-Based Solutions or methane reduction
Sharing learnings with colleagues to strengthen the team's collective expertise
Key Requirements, Skills Knowledge & Expertise
Key Requirements
We welcome a variety of backgrounds and experiences. You may be a great fit for this role if:You hold a relevant bachelor's or master's degree (e.g., in applied sciences, environmental engineering, or a related field)
You have at least 3 years of relevant experience in carbon project development, ideally including drafting PDDs and overseeing MRV cycles
You enjoy working collaboratively and contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture
You're eager to keep learning and open to tackling new challenges
You're comfortable working in dynamic settings, with the ability to adapt quickly and think creatively
You communicate clearly in English (Dutch and other languages are a plus)
You have strong time management and organizational skills
You're interested in creating real-world impact and helping others do the same
Preferred Skills and Interests (a plus, not a must) If you have experience or interest in the following areas, we'd love to hear about it:GIS, remote sensing, or data analysis
Quantitative/statistical methods
