Job Description

Our client is searching for a Senior BI Developer with strong technical skills and business acumen to join our team. The ideal candidate should be proficient in data analysis, reporting, and visualization, with a focus on the Microsoft Cloud BI Platform. This role requires excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Location: Hybrid 2 Days in Office at Sandton Johannesburg
Department: Data and Analytics
Key Responsibilities

• Analyze business data to provide actionable insights that drive decision-making.
• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Write complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Work with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Data Factory to manage and transform data.
• Develop and optimize data models for reporting and analytics.
• Utilize Power BI Report Builder to create paginated reports.
• Implement and manage Data Lake/Delta Lake solutions.
• Collaborate with data engineers and business stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Leverage DevOps for version control and deployment of BI solutions.
• Perform predictive analytics using Python to generate data-driven forecasts.
• Work with Databricks to process and analyze large datasets.
• (Preferred) Apply Azure Machine Learning for advanced analytics and AI-driven insights.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills:

• Strong experience with Microsoft Cloud BI Platform.
• Proficiency in SQL for querying and data manipulation.
• Advanced skills in Power BI, including DAX and Power Query (M language).
• Experience with Power BI Report Builder.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Data Factory, and Synapse Analytics.
• Working knowledge of Data Lake / Delta Lake architecture.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices for data projects.
• Competency in Python for predictive analytics.
• Experience with Databricks for big data processing.
• (Plus) Exposure to Azure Machine Learning.

Education & Experience

• Degree, diploma, or industry certification in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft BI tools and data platforms.
