Duties and responsibilities
Operations
  • Manage the garden and refuse services.
  • Supply weekly work programs/ schedules to supervisors and teams.
  • Arrangements on gardening and refuse as /when requested from management.
  • Identification of critical work and addressing thereof.
  • Manage fuel, herbicide and equipment management.
  • Ensure garden services programs and equipment are handed to supervisors /teams and that they know what is expected of them for the day / weeks work.
  • Oversee the delivery of the gardening, mowing, herbicide and pruning work schedule.
  • Complete work programs / schedules according to standard operating procedures / protocols as set by the division and signed off.
  • Complete and arrange for any ad hoc requested given verbally or per official communication by management.
  • Work order administration compliance and arrangements completed within set procedure.
  • Comply with all administrative tasks mentioned and given by management.
  • Upkeep, inspections of equipment - ensure all equipment is within health and safety standards.
  • Report any breakages, neglect or replacement requests to management.
  • Responsible to check and control equipment on any loss or stock level differences.
  • Arrangements on stock levels to be addressed well in advance for ordering and replacement.
  • Management of fuel and poison store.
  • Assure that protocol and signoff is complaint.
  • Report, record keeping and signing off of service sheets / registers done weekly.
  • Assist with driving and delivery of personnel, equipment on site.
  • Keep within OHS and traffic SOP.

General Administration
  • Sign off on work programs/schedules.
  • Manage Personnel register management.
  • Work order administration.

Internal Reporting
  • Reporting to line manager on all aspects of Gardening and Refuse Services.
  • Risk and process management.

Personnel Management
  • Manage personnel within the division.
  • Responsible for mentoring and assistance.
  • Manage workflow.
  • Scheduled meetings with personnel.
  • Communication, assisting and address operational matters.
  • Resolve and address any time keeping and personnel.
  • Manage employee leave and performance
  • Manage team leaders and teams to assure operational standards are met, as set by division and management.

Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all grounds / terrain are maintained within accordance to standard procedures and specifications.
  • Ensure on quality; sufficient material and equipment used and supplied.
  • Comply with health and safety standards.
  • Ensure personnel comply with PPE and wearing standard uniform before assigned to work schedule.
  • Ensure clean work space and service quarters.
Inherent Job Requirements
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in duties listed above.
Recommendations
  • Grade 12 on NQF level 4.
  • EB driving license.
  • General gardening maintenance knowledge.
  • Relevant management skills.
  • People skills.
  • Computer literate.
