Job Description

The Office of the Pension Funds Adjudicator (OPFA) is seeking to appoint an individual with strong analytical ability, exceptional attention to detail, and a deep understanding of pensions law. The ideal candidate must be results-driven, able to work accurately under pressure, and committed to producing legally sound determinations within deadlines. This role requires a high level of professionalism, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to operate independently while also providing support and guidance to junior staff. A passion for service excellence, integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement is essential.


Responsibilities:




Ensure that determinations are properly drafted for submission. Ensure that all aspects of a complaint have been investigated. Produce factually and legally accurate drafts. Identify all legal principles accurately and substantiate all conclusions. Prepare and resubmit drafts timeously. Prepare bundles for submission to the Financial Services Tribunal. Attend hearings at the Financial Services Tribunal where necessary. Respond to all queries received via calls, walk- ins or emails. Report on complaints statistics. Draft and finalise Out of Jurisdiction and settlements within specified time periods. Assist and guide other team members as and when required. Contribute to knowledge creation in pensions law by conducting research, writing articles and speaking at public forums.

Qualifications and Experience:




A Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB). Admitted Legal Practitioner. 6-7 Years experience in litigation or administrative law. Knowledge and understanding of financial sector legislation, especially in relation to retirement funds. Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Advanced computer skills include Microsoft Excel, Power Point presentation and a high level of written and verbal communication. * The ability to analyse data and arrive at a sound legal outcome.
