Job Description

Purpose of Role





To allocate, inspect and monitor the implementation of Auto-Electrical and Mechanical inspections and maintenance operations for the allocated function by actively allocating and overseeing all activities and daily operations including auto-electrical and Mechanics equipment and resources for efficient and safe operations and achievement of daily and weekly plans. To monitor the output of the Auto-Electricians and Mechanics by reviewing and signing off on completed work ensuring all standards have been met before machines are released back to active duty.


Role Context




Operational Management




Allocate Auto-Electrical and Mechanical maintenance and operational plans for the achievement of production targets by conducting Auto-Electrical and Mechanical hardware repairs, maintenance and replacements as required to drive the auto-electrical and Mechanical operational requirements. Allocate, oversee, and conduct routine maintenance, installations, and repairs by engaging with the respective functions to ensure that all Auto-Electrical and Mechanical needs are tended to, and auto-electrical and Mechanical equipment remains functional. Conduct extensive asset care management across the allocated areas of the mine by routinely maintaining, repairing, and installing new components to ensure that all assets across the mine remain in optimal condition. Develop and drive adherence to the planned inspection schedule for critical auto-electrical equipment to proactively detect and identify potential auto-electrical and Mechanical equipment failure to ensure preventative action is taken. Allocate and review job cards on maintenance activities and safety procedures by keeping accurate records of auto-electrical and Mechanical equipment inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities to ensure compliance and facilitate future maintenance planning. Conduct continuous risk assessments throughout the day by proactively identifying and reporting identified risks within the areas of operation and collaborating with the various departments to support and maintain a safe working environment. Coordinate and oversee the assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of the auto-electrical and Mechanical equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools to maintain operational requirements and reach daily targets. Inspect Earth Moving Equipment auto electrical and Mechanical components and systems to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with the relevant standards. Allocate and review the quality of the regular inspections completed by the Auto-Electricians and Mechanics by conducting a secondary inspection on the quality of work being completed ensuring that all standards and practices are being adhered to.

Compliance, Risk and Safety




Drive adherence to specific Risk Management Policies, Procedures and Standards (Codes of Practice) by monitoring the operating environments in which the Auto-Electricians and Mechanics work and are responsible for. Implement a proactive approach to all safety protocols by creating awareness of hazards and behaviour to enforce compliance to minimise risk of accidents and injuries within the plant. Conduct regular safety inspections, provide relevant and necessary training to ensure all employees adhere to safety guidelines all the time. Enforce compliance with all applicable regulations, codes and standards related to foundry operations including environmental regulations to ensure the plant remains fully compliant to industry standards.

People Management




Create and maintain a conducive work environment by appropriately applying Human Resources policies and procedures to ensure optimum performance is realised for the benefit of the Department and, by extension, the organisation. Coordinate and monitor the team activities inline with TM's leadership principles and values throughout with in the allocated delegation of authority (as issued by the Foreman and Superintendent). Coordinate Auto-Electrical and Mechanical personnel by providing input into their performance and provide regular feedback to address any performance issues. Provide staff with day-to-day direction and tasks aligned with Departmental procedures, to enable the usage of less resources more efficiently.


Qualifications:




Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate). Engineering Trade Certificate Earthmoving Equipment Trade Certificate Auto-Electrical certificate

Job-specific experience:




Minimum of 4-5 years previous experience in the auto-electrical field. Minimum of 3 years' post-apprenticeship experience

Must be medically fit
