Job Description

Operations



Accountable for specialist outputs, as well as initiating quality standards within defined work routines and policies.



Job Purpose



To ensure compliance with all legal statutory requirement within the Engineering Department (Production line and Utilities), effective actioning of all engineering breakdowns and maintenance/repair. Compliance with safety standards and guidelines and drive a safety culture and ensure safety in the workplace. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager and may be required to work on standby or shift (where necessary). The role is also responsible for the control and automation function.



Key Accountabilities and Outputs



Senior Artisan Electrician



Responsible for electrical and automation related downtime & trends.



Responsible for PLC and software configurations, breakdowns and projects.



Responsible for development of apprentices, electricians and shift artisans (where necessary).



Assist Shift artisans and electricians with escalated breakdowns on all lines. The Senior Artisan Electrician must be present throughout the breakdown until it is solved.



Adhoc stand-in for shift process artisans on shift (where required).



Conduct audits on areas of responsibility for lines and utilities, and report on this in Level 2 morning meetings.



Reporting on PIMS and POMS/breakdowns to the morning meetings and communication books.



Take full accountability for electrical and automation near-miss close outs.



Assist with line breakdowns where required.



Be involved in problem solving sessions using 5 why, RCA/FFA principles.



Assist Shift Supervisors/Team Leaders, and artisans with line logics control.



Assist and aid standby personnel on callouts.



Be familiar with all the spares list the lines and liaise with the maintenance storeman so that spares can be found after hours and in the stores.



Complete running and non-running schedules during maintenance with quality feedback.



Be part of the team involved in maintenance package reviews.



Assist with development of cleaning schedule.



Conduct isolation and lock-out audits of line equipment prior to maintenance.



Support maintenance activities on maintenance days.



Assist with the start-up and commissioning of machines after maintenance.



Direct support to day shift crews if requested.



Support the NPD agenda and form part of the project teams by unit and assist with PAT (performance acceptance criteria) for new technology.



Assist with operator coaching on NPD introduction and new technology introduction.



Adherence to the health, safety, food and environmental standards



Staff shall adhere to all Food Safety Policies and PRPs and shall adhere to and enforce all food safety requirements at all times

Visitor and Contractor Policy staff shall ensure that visitors or contractors entering the facility are signed in, escorted and wear PPE, are aware of the hygiene policies and do not smoke, eat or drink inside the facility



Code of Practice staff shall maintain high levels of personal hygiene in accordance with the code of conduct



Handwashing Procedure Ensuring staff are cleaning and sanitizing hands efficiently before handling the product.



Physical Contamination Control Policy and Procedure Staff shall be aware of the potential of physical product contamination. Staff is aware of control measures to prevent physical contamination.



Safety, Health and Environment Policy Staff take reasonable measures to ensure health and safety hazards do not occur. Should an accident occur, staff shall be aware of the procedure of reporting the incident.



First Aid Policy Staff are aware of the first aider on site. Staff is trained to report injuries and illness to supervisors/first aiders.



Conversant with relevant business information, policies, processes and procedures

Enforce compliance with relevant legislative and statutory requirements



Enforce GMPs and conduct themselves in a manner conducive with food safety practices



Attend Training and enforce learnings from the training for Quality, Food Safety and Health & Safety that been prescribed for them



Be vigilant of food defense and food fraud risks



Maintain a high level of housekeeping within the work environment



General



Responsible to ensure housekeeping is performed and ensure that all products and activities are stored and are executed within the demarcated areas according to the housekeeping policy (green red and yellow areas)



Conversant with relevant business information, policies, processes and procedures

Qualifications and Experience



Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4 (Essential)



Relevant trade test qualification (Electrical/Millwright/Instrument Mechanician)



Up to 3 years experience (Operational Execution) Maintenance; FMCG; Bottling Equipment



Basic MS Excel; MS Word; E Mail



PLC (B&R, Allen Bradley, TIA portal, Siemens S-versions) knowledge & software experience



ASIbus/Profibus/Ethernet/Ethercat knowledge & experience
