Key Performance Output
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Manager: Airside Operations, and will be responsible but not limited to the following:

  • Facilitate and regulate capacity for each process and manage any pressure points in terms of passenger and aircraft flow.
  • Provide view and make recommendations in terms of impact and availability of infrastructure across all operational areas.
  • Responsible for airport (landside, airside, terminal) capacity through coordinating infrastructure maintenance and development projects to achieve a high level of infrastructure availability in a safe operating environment.
  • Management of real time capacity for exceptional circumstances (events/weather related) in coordination with the AMC.
  • Manage planned or unplanned downtime of infrastructure in line with operational demand.
  • Perform research to ensure best practice in all processes throughout operations.
  • Take the initiative to introduce new concepts for facilitation processes and co-ordinate these requirements with other division within Operations.
  • Monitor and provide input into coordination of construction activities and the impact thereof on operational requirements, safety standards, security standards and service levels.
  • Ensure all resource allocation models are adhered to achieve the required service standards.
  • Manage results of ASQ and QMS surveys and define corrective action where required.
  • Analyses of information to identify trends to ensure process and system efficiency.
  • Strive for continuous improvement with respect to the end-to-end process on behalf of operations.
  • Detect, proactively monitor and manage events (deviation from the norm) in collaboration with other departments and implement remedial action.
  • Oversee test and simulate contingencies to mitigate risk on event activities.
  • Analyse events and engage for a long-term solution for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure business continuity during emergency situations (Phase 3 - crash/highjack).
  • Monitor and manage process and system efficiency within terminal operations (queuing and processing times) and recommend/implement remedial action where needed.
  • Publish the withdrawing and resuming of infrastructure and services in normal operations.
  • Ensure compliance to relevant statutory/legislative regulations, SOP's, operational standards, policies, and practices.
  • Adhere to relevant statutory/legislative regulations, SOP's, operational standards, policies, and practices.
  • Respond to audit findings and implement appropriate action.
  • Ensure remedial actions are implemented timeously to address non-conformances.
  • Ensure effective and regular communication of new statutory regulations, organizational standards, policies, and procedures to ensure full awareness amongst stakeholders.
  • Conduct compliance audits, report on and follow-up to ensure that non-conformances/compliance have been addressed.
  • Participate in Risk assessment for new projects, existing and where there is a change in operation or product.
  • Ensure that corrective actions are implemented and closed off in respect of all reported nonconformances, risks and remedial actions.
  • Ensure that operations are executed in accordance with existing contract (SLA).
  • Collaborate on value generating interventions.
  • Support in leveraging customer intelligence to enhance customer experience and contribute to commercial growth.
  • Proactively support clients and provide relevant information/guidance regarding airport market.

  • Participate on risk assessment on new projects, existing projects and where there is change in operations or product.
  • Monitor the implementation of projects in line with the authorization and relevant regulation.
  • Compile final incident and accident investigation reports as per policy requirements.
  • Manage people development initiatives such as performance management, succession planning, talent management etc. to ensure team performance meet required standards.
  • Plan, schedule and supervise / co-ordinate subordinate activities within processes or services to achieve efficiency and quality goals.
  • Assure stable employee relations by managing conflict and creating a positive working environment.
  • Provide On-Job HIRA workshop, Safety Management Systems, Safety Induction, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and other Safety related training to ACSA Stakeholders.
  • Develop and conduct relevant Health and Safety campaigns with the airport community.
  • Contribute to consolidation/compilation and submission of final monthly departmental management reports.
  • Ensure QMS reports are automated as far as possible to provide the ability to react to operational constraints in real-time.
  • Establish a close working relationship with the IT division to ensure that business needs are fully understood and documented.
  • Report on expenditures and highlighting areas of material variances.
  • Manage resources to ensure maximum resource availability (resource uptime) and most effective allocation and coordination of resources.
  • Anticipate trends and patterns to optimise resources and facilitation of future planning.
  • Ensure correct amount of physical and manpower resources to support process/ abnormal circumstances.
  • Collaborate, direct and coordinate operations stakeholders to ensure passengers and aircraft are processed efficiently.
  • Obtain buy-in and approval from stakeholders for new initiatives to improve facilitation of passengers and aircraft.
  • Use established forums like the AOC and AOA to obtain synergy and complete co-operation and ownership.
  • Build, support and maintain healthy diverse internal (peers, unions, team) as well as external (service providers etc.) relationships and implement remedial actions required to ensure achievement of organisational goals.
  • Manage stakeholder QMS results and outcomes.
  • Identify cost-saving initiatives within area of control.
  • Participate in the compilation of annual operational budgets and monitoring of expenditure against budget and amendments to forecast if needed.
Technical Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:
  • Bachelor's degree (3 years - 360 credits - NQF level 7) - Safety Management / Operation Management/ Risk Management/Business Management or other relevant is essential.
  • 5 years' Airport Operations/Operational equivalent experience is essential.
  • 1 year Supervisory experience is essential.
  • 2 years Risk management/ Safety experience is advantageous.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office.
  • Code B; Motor vehicle license.
