Duties and responsibilities:
Lead the financial management of Indigenous Knowledge Systems in liaison with the Director: Indigenous Knowledge Systems.
Manage all income, expenses and financial reports of the Indigenous Knowledge Systems unit and submit monthly financial reports to the Director: Indigenous Knowledge Systems and the Advisory Committee (when required) in this regard.
Participate in strategic financial planning and decisions of the Indigenous Knowledge Systems' unit.
Actively participate in strategic imperatives in Indigenous Knowledge Systems.
Facilitate the annual budget processes as well as project-related budgeting processes on third-stream income projects.
Perform operational tasks related to financial management, e.g. generate purchase orders, ad hoc payments, journal transfers, etc.
Perform general administrative tasks related to financial management in the Indigenous Knowledge Systems Unit.
Handle payments of creditors and all queries.
Handle financial administrative and financial enquiries.
Process and reconcile employee ad-hoc claims, advances and expenses applications.
Order stationery and supplies when required.
Assist with invoicing of clients for services rendered by the Indigenous Knowledge Systems Unit, the collection of outstanding fees and the resolving of disputes.
Ensuring correct allocation of transactions or accounts in the general ledger.
Ensuring the upkeep of fixed asset registry.
Liaison with internal and/or external auditors.
Inherent requirements:
Bachelor's degree or an advanced diploma/ B.Tech degree/postgraduate certificate on NQF Level 7 in finance, accounting, or relevant field.
Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles (attach proof).
A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a similar role.
Recommendations:
Knowledge of People Soft.
Knowledge of the Procurement Policy.
Principles of corporate governance.
Knowledge of IT systems and applications.
Applicable university regulations, policies and procedures.
University structures and services (including academic environment).
Computer literacy- Microsoft Office and Excel essential.
In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, financial modelling and accounting processes.
Reading of financial statements, General Ledger, financial accounting etc.

Salary:
The annual remuneration package, including benefits is R388 426.59 R487 479.38 per annum, depending on the budget available for the position, relevant work experience and qualifications.
