Job Summary
A purpose-driven, rapidly scaling ed-tech company is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant with strong experience in full accounting function and reporting, preferably with exposure to cloud-based accounting systems like Xero, to join their team in Pretoria. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially astute Senior Accountant to manage and oversee day-to-day finance operations, review the work of the Junior Accountant, and assume responsibility for monthly reporting, compliance, and audit preparation. Responsibilities:

• Oversee and review daily financial operations performed by the Junior Accountant, including bank reconciliations, receipt allocations, and invoice capturing.
• Provide coaching and performance feedback to the Junior Accountant.
• Prepare and process weekly payment runs.
• Perform monthly bank and supplier reconciliations.
• Manage debtor and creditor accounts.
• Process deferred revenue journals and manage asset registrations.
• Oversee cash management and reconcile loan accounts.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, and finance KPI reports.
• Provide finance inputs for board and investor reporting.
• Review and approve monthly payroll.
• Perform and submit VAT reconciliations and payments.
• File EMP201, EMP501, and Income Tax returns.
• Prepare and manage audit processes and annual financial statement reviews.
• Ensure compliance with COIDA, UIF, and CIPC filing requirements.
• Review budget vs. actuals and investigate variances.
• Support cash flow forecasting and treasury management.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a senior accounting role with full accounting function and reporting exposure.
• Advanced proficiency in Xero (or similar cloud-based accounting systems) and Excel.
• Experience with CIN7 Core and Dext is advantageous.
• Solid understanding of South African tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax).
• Strong knowledge of IFRS for SMEs.
