The University Campus Protection Services (CPS) department seeks a suitably qualified and experienced energetic individual who will drive Campus Protection Services at the university.
Reporting to the Coordinator: CPS, the successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and effective supervision and execution of the daily security operations including normal hours, after hours and public holidays. This will include overseeing all after hour events as well as performing post visits to ensure that the contracted security meets all UWC Service Level Agreements (SLA) requirements and identity and report any contraventions.
The duties of the Officer: Unibell Residence will include the following:

  • Supervise, inspect and oversee entire Unibell Precinct security functions of contract security personnel, university events, investigations, contractors on site, etc.
  • Provide guidance, perform on the job training and conduct evaluations of security personnel when performing post visits.
  • Evaluate, assess and analyse performance of security personnel in accordance with SLA, document or record incidents, non-compliance, findings and observations and submit a daily report. Oversee the smooth running of general security and related services.
  • Prepare relevant reports for performance and contract administration, management and governance as required.
  • Communication/ Liaison with the Security Clusters, law enforcement and various safety and security agencies/activities.
  • Fully responsible for the smooth running of the Access Control System.
  • Contribute to various policy and procedures and its implementation to improve on systems, people and processes.
  • Participate and represent the University in various crime combatting forums and initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
  • Matric
  • One-year diploma in Security Management or a post matric security qualification within the field of security management
  • 3 years' experience as a Security Supervisor (preferably in the Education Sector)
  • PSIRA registration as a grade A
  • A valid driver's license (with at least 2 years driving )
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Advantageous would be certificates for First Aid, Fire Prevention, Crisis Management and Health and Safety knowledge and experience.
  • Clear criminal record and sound references
  • Understanding of campus environment and student behaviour would be advantageous
  • Able to work shifts and standby duties
  • Fair knowledge of Labour relations
  • A good knowledge of access control or any other security electronic system.
  • Computer literacy
