Job Description

Job Purpose:

To manage and coordinate all aspects of contracted security services across the mining operation, ensuring compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable legislation. This includes safeguarding personnel, assets, infrastructure, and maintaining a secure operating environment in alignment with mining industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Management:

Oversee security service provider contracts, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs). Conduct regular contract performance reviews and initiate corrective actions when necessary. Liaise with procurement and legal departments for contract renewals, amendments, or terminations.

Operational Oversight:

Supervise daily security operations across the site, including access control, patrolling, surveillance, and emergency response. Coordinate and monitor contractor deployment to ensure optimal site coverage. Conduct risk assessments and security audits across the mining site.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Act as liaison between the mine and external security contractors, government agencies, and local law enforcement. Provide regular security briefings to mine leadership and report incidents or threats promptly. Promote and maintain positive relations with local communities in line with corporate social responsibility (CSR) guidelines.

Compliance and Governance:

Ensure full compliance with applicable mining, health & safety, and private security regulations. Maintain documentation for inspections, audits, and legal purposes. Lead incident investigations involving security breaches, theft, or violence.

Team Management:

Provide leadership and direction to the internal security team and ensure contractor staff meet required competency standards. Organize training sessions and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs). Manage rosters, KPIs, and disciplinary actions where required.

Qualifications & Experience:

Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate PSIRA Grade A Certification (mandatory) Relevant tertiary qualification in Security Management, Risk Management, or similar (advantageous) Minimum 5-8 years' experience in security management, preferably in the mining or heavy industry sector Proven experience in managing outsourced security contracts Strong knowledge of South African mining laws, OHS Act, and security regulations Must have Business Purpose Firearm Competency.
