Job Summary The South African Hydrological Society (SAHS) is seeking an experienced and motivated independent administrator (virtual assistant) to take on the role of Secretariat of the organisation. Key Responsibilities - Administrative support to SAHS Council, including meeting scheduling and minute-taking. - Managing the SAHS membership database. - Overseeing society communications. - Handling bookkeeping and financial records. - Assisting with conference organisation and logistics. - Driving fundraising efforts and fostering strategic collaborations. - Organising workshops and quarterly online seminars. Requirements - Reside in South Africa (valid work permit if applicable). - Proven experience in administration, project management, and stakeholder communication. - Have a home office with computer, phone and stable internet - Familiarity with South Africa's scientific or hydrological community is an advantage. - Strong organisational, writing, and social media skills. - Knowledge of non-profit operations is a plus. Remuneration - R6,000 per month for 8 hours per week. - This is not a payroll position, i.e., the successful applicant will be expected to invoice the society monthly and manage their own tax and statutory obligations.
