We are recruiting for a qualified and highly motivated Science Intermediate and Senior Phase Educator. Position overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic educator to join our team. As the Science Educator, you will play a pivotal role in fostering students' passion for the natural sciences, including Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. Your extensive knowledge in Physics or Chemistry will be an asset in creating engaging and comprehensive learning experiences for our students.   • Curriculum Delivery: Design and deliver engaging and student-centred lessons aligned with the school's curriculum framework, ensuring that the content meets the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Science (Years 8-9): Deliver engaging and effective Science lessons tailored to the needs of diverse learners in your class. Demonstrate proficiency in Science competencies, focusing on hands-on experimentation and exploration to cultivate a deep understanding of scientific concepts, integrating real-world applications to illustrate scientific principles, and fostering critical thinking and inquiry skills through engaging and interactive learning experiences.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning, managing student behaviour effectively, and promoting mutual respect among students.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Develop appropriate assessment methods to evaluate student progress, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate records of student performance to inform instructional planning and meet reporting requirements.
  • Individualised Instruction: Identify and address the diverse learning needs and styles of students through differentiated instruction, providing necessary support and challenging opportunities for academic growth.
  • Cross-Cultural Competence: Foster an inclusive and culturally sensitive classroom environment, promoting respect, empathy, and understanding among students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Parent and Community Engagement: Establish effective communication channels with parents/guardians, providing regular updates on student progress, participating in parent-teacher conferences, and collaborating with the community to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay abreast of educational best practices, innovative teaching techniques, and global trends in education, and actively contribute to the professional learning community within the school.
  • Collaborative Approach: Collaborate with colleagues and participate in team meetings, curriculum development, and school-wide initiatives to ensure a cohesive and enriching educational experience for all students.
  • Extra-Curricular Programme: Actively contribute to the planning, coordination, and implementation of the school's extra-curricular programme. Offer guidance and support to students participating in various activities, including clubs, sports, arts, music, community service, or other areas of interest.
  • Student Engagement and Mentorship: Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages student participation and personal growth. Serve as a mentor and role model, helping students develop leadership skills, teamwork, resilience, and a sense of responsibility.
Requirements:
  • Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree in Science related field or in Education is required. A SACE teaching certification/license is essential, preferably with specialisation in the relevant subject area.
  • Teaching Experience: A minimum of two years of teaching experience at the relevant grade level or in an international school setting is preferred.
  • Instructional Skills: Proven ability to design and implement effective, student-centred instructional strategies, utilising a range of teaching methodologies, technologies, and resources.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, enabling effective collaboration with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Technology Integration: Proficiency in integrating educational technology tools and resources into instruction to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Ability to commute/relocate: The Reeds, Centurion. (Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work).
  • A clear criminal record is essential.
  • A willingness to contribute to the values and ethos of the School.
