Rondebosch Boys' Preparatory School seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative

School Librarian

with a strong background in English to join our dedicated team.



The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our school library as a vibrant learning hub, fostering a love of reading, research and lifelong learning among our boys. With English as a major subject, you will also support literacy development through targeted teaching, resource curation and reading enrichment initiatives. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications and Relevant Experience

A recognised teaching qualification with

English as a major

7 years or more teaching experience

, including teaching

Grade 6 and 7 English

. Experience in promoting literacy and reading development in a school environment. Strong organisational, administrative and ICT skills. A passion for children's literature and creating a reading culture. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Attributes

Additional training or certification in inclusive education or learner support. Demonstrated ability to implement innovative and engaging teaching strategies. A collaborative approach to working within a team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and develop the school library as a welcoming, inclusive and resource-rich environment. Promote a culture of reading and inquiry across the school. Support learners in developing research, literacy and critical thinking skills. Teach
