What are we looking for?We are looking for someone with the following experience, qualifications and /or skillsets: An appropriate academic and professional qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.Relevant experience in a similar position.A passion for children.Excellent planning, organisational and administrative skills.An energetic positive approach to their vocation.Patience and compassion to work with children who need advise.The skills to deal with children, parents and staff.Ability to remain calm in any situation yet solve problems quickly in an emergency.A clear criminal record. The responsibilities are:Carrying out counselling sessions on an individual, group or class level as part of an integrated preventive and intervention service.Contributing in an active manner to the development of the school counselling programme in support of the holistic development of each learner.Assisting in the development and nurturing of an enabling school culture and helping learners become empowered for positive action and change.Intervening to give learners the opportunity to manage more effectively their life circumstances and to manage their lives more effectively.Assisting learners to develop their personal, social and autonomous learning skills.Preparing reports and maintaining records on learners.Making the necessary referrals according to established policies and procedures.Adopting preventive measures that empower learners to avoid problems as much as possible.Providing a continuum of preventative, developmental, remedial, and intervention services and programmes and facilitating referral to resources and services at both community and national levels.3-5 Years working experience with children.Must be registered with the South African Council Social Services Professions.Personal commitment to education and a willingness to contribute to the values and ethos of the school.
