Job Description

Scholar transport drivers ensure the safe and timely transport of students by following strict routes, conducting daily vehicle checks, enforcing discipline, assisting passengers (including those with disabilities), and communicating with schools about delays or incidents, all while obeying traffic laws and maintaining the bus. Their duties extend to field trips, emergency responses, and attending mandatory safety training. Core Responsibilities

Driving & Safety:

Operate the bus safely, following routes, adhering to traffic laws, and managing student behavior to prevent distractions.

Pre/Post-Trip Inspections:

Perform daily checks (tires, oil, brakes, lights) and report mechanical issues.

Passenger Management:

Help students board/disembark, manage discipline, and assist those with special needs (e.g., using lifts for wheelchairs).

Scheduling:

Pick up and drop off students on time according to established schedules.

Communication:

Inform dispatch, school staff, or parents about delays, accidents, or hazards.
Additional Duties

Vehicle Maintenance:

Perform basic upkeep like fueling, cleaning, and servicing.

Reporting:

Complete accurate paperwork, including passenger counts, mileage, and incident reports.

Training:

Attend required safety meetings, training, and drills.

Special Trips:

Transport students and teachers for extracurricular activities or field trips.
