Job Description

We're looking for a hands-on Scaffolding Supervisor to take charge of all scaffolding activities on-site. You'll lead a team of scaffolders, ensure safety and compliance with SANS & ISO standards, and help deliver projects efficiently within petrochemical or other high-risk industrial environments.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise scaffolding teams during erection, modification, and dismantling activities.
  • Allocate daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure productivity targets are met.
  • Conduct daily scaffold and equipment inspections for safety and compliance.
  • Review scaffold drawings, work plans, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate activities with Construction, Mechanical, HSE, and HR departments.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety protocols, SANS & ISO standards, and site-specific requirements.
  • Maintain detailed records of scaffolding activities, inspections, and maintenance.
  • Lead toolbox talks and promote a culture of safety awareness.
  • Support the Construction Manager with project planning, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Mentor and guide team members to ensure consistent workmanship and adherence to procedures.
Requirements
Education & Certifications:
  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate (required)
  • Advanced Scaffolding Supervision or Safety Management Certification (advantageous)
  • Valid Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry Certificates
  • Valid Scaffold Erector and Supervisor Certificate
  • Valid Driver's License
Experience:
  • 2-5 years' experience in scaffolding supervision, ideally in petrochemical or industrial environments.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams (construction, mechanical, HSE, HR).
  • Exposure to refinery, fuel terminal, or tank refurbishment projects advantageous.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong understanding of scaffolding systems and SANS 10085-1 standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret scaffold drawings and engineering layouts.
  • Proficient in preparing risk assessments and method statements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Safety-focused, disciplined, and reliable under pressure.
  • Adaptable and able to lead by example in high-risk industrial environments.
