SAP Master Data Management Specialist (Contract) Mostly Remote/South Africa
Our client, a well-established enterprise organisation, is seeking a skilled SAP Master Data Management Specialist to join their Group IT team. The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced SAP professional to deliver essential master data management services, ensuring accurate data setup and ongoing support within the SAP ecosystem and integrated business systems. This role offers the chance to work in a collaborative environment with significant opportunities for professional growth and SAP system optimisation.
POSITION: Contract role for 12 months (possible performance-based renewal)
COMMENCEMENT: As soon as possible
WORK MODEL: Mostly Remote with some travel as may be required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Essential Requirements

• Bachelor of Commerce or a relevant tertiary qualification
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Master Data Management, Data Governance, or related fields
• Hands-on experience with MDM application tools
• Strong understanding of data governance principles and MDM practices
• Knowledge of data quality standards and best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent facilitation and communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts

Desirable Skills

• Strong SAP functional knowledge across multiple modules
• Experience with SAP MDG (Master Data Governance) or similar SAP MDM tools
• Proficiency in automation tools and scripting within the SAP environment
• Cross-functional collaboration experience
• Change management background

THE ROLE:
Application Design and Solution Delivery

• Analyse MDM system performance and recommend improvements to enhance effectiveness
• Assist in developing automation scripts and tools to streamline MDM operations
• Analyse and troubleshoot complex issues across multiple platforms, ensuring high availability and performance
• Conduct validation, testing, and data quality checks for system enhancements and new features

Data Governance and Quality Management

• Support implementation and enforcement of data governance policies, standards, and guidelines
• Track data quality metrics and perform cleansing, standardisation, and enrichment activities
• Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data across systems and domains
• Collaborate with data stewards and business users to resolve data-related issues

Master Data Maintenance

• Provide ongoing user support for master data maintenance in SAP and integrated systems
• Perform mass maintenance for vendor, customer, product, and material master data
• Ensure all data maintenance tasks are completed within defined service levels
• Lead cross-functional communication and manage change control processes
• Obtain consensus and approvals from stakeholders across the organisation

Performance Expectations

• Maintain 90% audit compliance with technical and audit controls
• Achieve zero high-priority audit findings
• Contribute to architecture documentation and vendor assessments
• Support proof-of-concept implementations and cost-benefit analyses
