Our client is seeking a Senior SAP ABAP Developer. This role is pivotal in providing cutting-edge IT solutions to global operations while ensuring the seamless integration and management of SAP technologies within the Group IT Hub South Africa.

• Contract Duration: 01 April 2026 - 31 December 2028.
• Commencement Date: 01 April 2026.
• Location: Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn/Home Office rotation.
• Role Group: DevOps.
• Experience Required: 5-8+ years of DevOps (Operations, configuration/development) experience in user IT applications.

Product / Team Context: The OtD Materialmaster / MADA product is responsible for transferring material master data from R&D departments into dispositive plant SAP systems. It enriches and forwards this data to underlying systems such as production steering and shopfloor systems.
You will join a team of 14, providing technical oversight and operational support for global business processes spanning material management and automotive supply.
Qualifications & Experience:

• 5-8+ years of professional experience in SAP DevOps, configuration, or development.
• SAP MM/PP experience is highly advantageous.
• Proven ability to work completely independently, escalating only highly complex tasks.
• Experience in a technical solution architect capacity for change requests.

Essential Skills & Technologies:

• Advanced ABAP Development: Deep expertise in ABAP Objects, Reports, BAPIs, BADIs, Enhancements, User Exits, and performance tuning.
• IDoc & ALE Integration: Expert-level knowledge of IDoc configuration, processing, and ALE distribution models.
• Material Management (MM): In-depth understanding of Material Master Data structures, views, and dependencies.
• SAP S/4HANA: Proficiency in ABAP on HANA, CDS Views, AMDP, and OData integration.
• Interfaces: Expertise in RFC, BAPI, Web Services, and OData services for SAP Fiori.
• Data Migration: Experience with LSMW, BDC, and custom migration tools.

Advantageous Skills:

• Workflow: SAP Workflow for MM processes.
• Integration Middleware: Knowledge of PI/PO, SAP Cloud Integration, or similar solutions.
• Leadership: Ability to lead and guide entry-to-advanced level experts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Architecture: Act as a solution architect for change requests and provide technical oversight of developments.
• Quality Governance: Review proposed solutions and code quality against Group Global Development Guidelines.
• Mediation: Engage directly with product owners and functional teams to bridge the gap between requirements and development.
• Operational Support: Receive, troubleshoot, and resolve maintenance tickets within defined SLAs.
• Agile Participation: Daily use of the Agile Tool Chain and attendance at all Sprint ceremonies (Stand-ups, Planning, Reviews).
• Documentation: Update and maintain technical and functional specifications as system functionality changes.
