Position Overview

The Sales Manager will be responsible for the following:xe2x80xa2Volume dealer experience 45 new cars per month xe2x80xa2Must be able to run a team of experienced and inexperienced sales executivesxe2x80xa2Drive productivity of the sales team, in line with minimum standardsxe2x80xa2To conduct training for the teamxe2x80xa2Must have a solid understanding of Higher Gear and how it can be used to drive salesxe2x80xa2Proven track record in sales
Specific Role Responsibilities

OBJECTIVES AND KEY TASKS Improved Profitability:-. To ensure sales/profit forecasts are achieved as per Dealer Principal.xe2x80xa2Sales cost not to exceed as per Dealer Principal requirements.xe2x80xa2Rate of stock turnover to be not less Dealership requirements.xe2x80xa2To ensure increase of local market penetrationxe2x80xa2To ensure new car stock value does not exceed figures as per Dealership requirementsxe2x80xa2To ensure utilisation of showroom and forecourt sales spacexe2x80xa2To maximize sale of extras by attaining sales as per Dealership requirementsxe2x80xa2To monitor advertising to ensure budget is not exceeded.xe2x80xa2To monitor all contracts and leads xe2x80xa2To formulate sales targets for each sales person and ensure that these are achieved xe2x80xa2To ensure that sales staff receive new model launch training.xe2x80xa2To ensure that all car stock, new and old, is sold at a profit - Customer Satisfaction:-To improve the conversion of showroom callers to sales by xe2x80x93 as per Dealership Requirements..To ensure that customer complaints attributable to sales staff do not exceed as per Dealership requirements.To ensure that all sales staff in "face-to-face" contract receive customer relations training.-Cost Control:xe2x80xa2To examine monthly/quarterly management accounts xe2x80xa2To monitor new car stock xe2x80xa2To examine monthly/quarterly management accounts to ensure that debtor days do not exceed as per Dealership requirements.-LIMITS OF AUTHORITY:Capital Expenditure:-xe2x80xa2(State in full as agreed with Dealer Principal showing split between new and used car operations).-Personnel:xe2x80xa2Recruitment and dismissal of all Staff within agreed limits.-Operational:xe2x80xa2Authorisation to order new cars or purchase/trade-in of new vehicles within agreed targets and forecasts. Authority to proceed on credit sales applications and determine discounts within agreed limits.-MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS:Staff:xe2x80xa2To establish the staffing levels required to achieve departmental objectives.xe2x80xa2To select, hire, train and develop sales department staff.xe2x80xa2To identify departmental training needs in conjunction with training staff.xe2x80xa2To ensure resultant training programmers are completed and adequate records maintained.xe2x80xa2Establish and administer "in-dealership" training as required to cater for new model launches.xe2x80xa2Operate staff performance and appraisal systems and ensure action taken on results.xe2x80xa2Establish and review sales basic pay and incentive schemes..Administration:xe2x80xa2Ensure all administrative functions, returns, record keeping and clerical operations are carried out at the appropriate time and kept up to date.xe2x80xa2Review with Dealer Principal all activities and reporting systems within department.xe2x80xa2Ensure that adequate safety and security procedures exist and are operated.xe2x80xa2Monitor cleaning of new and used car stock.xe2x80xa2Monitor cleanliness of showroom, forecourt sales area and other sales-related areas..Communications:xe2x80xa2Maintain good liaison with other managers.xe2x80xa2Advise Dealer Principal and all other managers on sales matters.xe2x80xa2Advice subordinates on appropriate sales related matters.xe2x80xa2Maintain direct liaison with manufacturersxe2x80x99 representatives and all other contracts.xe2x80xa2Propose special sales promotions as appropriate.xe2x80xa2Ensure adequate stocks of car and product display material is available.. Marketing:xe2x80xa2Formulate marketing plan, initiate and conduct new car launches and promotions.xe2x80xa2Formulate marketing plan and initiate used car sales promotions.. Analyse local customer/car preference statistics and compare with new and used car forecasts, acting on any anomalies detected.xe2x80xa2Handle customer complaints and ensure corrective action is taken.xe2x80xa2Maintain record of customer complaints or congratulations for analysis and use as required.. Finance:xe2x80xa2Review all pricing policies, discounts and "trade-in" dealings to maintain dealership profitability.xe2x80xa2Monitor costs and general condition of demonstrator fleet.xe2x80xa2Monitor sales department financial performance weekly.xe2x80xa2Monitor credit and finance commission income to ensure budget requirements are met.xe2x80xa2Monitor outstanding debtor situation and take appropriate action.oValuation of trade in carsoManagement of the Higher Gear systemoManagement of the Bid4Cars valuation systemoDue diligence with regards to supplier workmanship and pricing
Qualifications and Experience

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAININGxe2x80xa2Sales management and marketing skills, knowledge and experience.xe2x80xa2Ability to manage and administer a department, to provide organisation, systems and leadership.xe2x80xa2Up-to-date knowledge of vehicle legislation and of trade practices.xe2x80xa2Able to motivate a sales team to achieve objectives.xe2x80xa2Sales qualification, technical qualifications an added advantage. xe2x80xa2Minimum experience required: 3 years in a similar environment2. xe2x80xa2Minimum Qualification: Higher Certificate. xe2x80xa2Volume dealer experience 45 new cars per month xe2x80xa2Manage a team of 8 Sales Executives. xe2x80xa2Financial, online and marketing experience will be favourable. xe2x80xa2Internal and external complaint management and resolution will be favourable
