The Sales Manager is responsible for the success of the branch's sales team. They set goals for their team and produce monthly forecasting reports to see how well they achieve those targets and budgets based on what's happening. The Sales Manager must ensure the sales team gets continuous training on products and sales techniques.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communication
Represent the company in all forms of communication, maintaining good working relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders, external suppliers, and clients.
Respond to and follow up on all enquiries by email, telephone and personal visits as required.
Responsibility for building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrate a strong customer service focus and quality communication and output in all interactions with key stakeholders and external contacts.
Increase Sales and Revenue
Achieving growth and hitting sales targets by successfully managing the sales team
Report to management flash sales, lost orders, and stock issues report.
Lead, motivate and inspire the external sales team to achieve sales targets.
Effective and professional customer contact, extracting the needs of the customer.
Designing and implementing a strategic sales plan that expands the company's customer base and ensures its strong presence.
Managing recruiting, objectives setting, coaching and performance monitoring of sales representatives
Customer Service
Have a competent knowledge of the BMG product range.
Displaying technical, design and problem-solving ability.
Managing customer needs i.t.o. stock required deliveries and pricing.
Effective communication between customers, management, and external/internal sales staff.
Proactive support of BMG stock management initiatives.
Achieve agreed team sales objectives.
Effective contact sessions with decision-makers that positively influence the customer's relationship with BMG.
Communicating effectively about the status of enquiries and orders to customers.
Staff Management
Deal with queries and escalated issues in timely manner, achieving resolution.
Manage the performance of direct reports in accordance with the BMG performance management policy and procedure.
Identify training and development needs, implementing plans to address requirements, as appropriate.
Manage staff resources and productivity, minimizing absenteeism.
Discipline staff in accordance with organizational codes and procedures so that improvement is shown.
Facilitate communication through appropriate structures and systems
General
Assist with BMG breakdown service.
Assist during Stock takes.
Workstation, company car and catalogues in a neat and tidy order.
Safeguard the petrol card completing fuel log and control sheets.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
National Certificate NQF Level 4 / Grade 12
Relevant university degree/diploma
A minimum of five (5) to 7seven (7) years of relevant experience in a sales environment, with three being in a management role
Demonstrated ability to meet sales objectives.
Impeccable interpersonal communication skills
Thorough understanding of the industry and industry trends
Familiarity with marketing strategies and consumer psychology
Ability and willingness to travel for trade shows, demonstrations, and client meetings.
Familiarity with system/ process documentation
Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional organisational skills and impeccable attention to detail.
A high degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people, senior executives, and staff.
Expert in time management with the ability to react with appropriate levels of urgency.
Ability to complete many tasks and projects with little or no guidance.
Working knowledge of business management
