The position is responsible for achieving sales targets, optimising team performance, improving margins and strengthening Macsteel's position in the merchant product market through excellent service, pricing discipline and operational control.

Minimum Requirements
National Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
Diploma or Certificate in Sales/Marketing Management (NQF 5 or 6).
8 - 10 years' experience in a sales leadership role managing an internal and external sales team.
Strong commercial and customer relationship acumen.
Proficiency in CRM, ERP systems (eg SAP) and MS Office.
Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills, with a data-driven approach to problem-solving.

Develop and execute sales strategies for merchant products across VRN and Trading.

Monitor competitor activity and align plans for sustained growth.
Financial & Operations Management
Oversee pricing, quoting and sales order accuracy.
Monitor sales targets, profitability and customer performance metrics.
Support the budget process and monitor cost controls in line with financial targets.
People & Performance Management
Lead and develop internal and external sales teams across all aspects of merchanting product sales, including the full range of Trading and VRN products.
Implement training, performance management and succession planning.
Ensure employee relations and performance standards are met.
Customer & Supplier Relations
Build and maintain strong relationships with merchant product customers.
Monitor service levels, delivery and account performance.
Respond to queries, manage queries and problems, and support customer satisfaction.
Compliance & SHEQ Management
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards and legal regulations.
Oversee accurate documentation and quotation approval.
Promote a culture of safety, quality and accountability.

Identify new customers, industries and product opportunities.
