Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Agent with experience in the gas and electricity sector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in B2B or B2C energy sales, a strong understanding of gas and electricity tariffs, pricing models, and regulatory frameworks, and the ability to build long-term relationships with clients.

This role involves identifying potential customers, negotiating energy contracts, and providing tailored gas and electricity solutions for businesses and households. A background in energy brokerage, utility sales, or account management will be highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities1. Sales & Business Development



Identify and generate new business opportunities in the gas and electricity market. Develop and maintain strong relationships with commercial and residential clients. Present and sell energy contracts, fixed-term tariffs, and bespoke solutions. Work towards meeting and exceeding sales targets and revenue goals.

2. Client Relationship Management



Engage with clients via cold calls, face-to-face meetings, networking, and referrals. Conduct energy usage assessments to recommend cost-effective gas and electricity plans. Ensure a smooth transition for clients switching suppliers, managing queries throughout the process. Handle client objections and negotiations professionally to close deals effectively.

3. Energy Industry & Product Knowledge



Stay informed on gas and electricity market trends, wholesale pricing, and industry regulations. Understand and effectively communicate pricing structures, contract options, and energy efficiency solutions. Keep up to date with Ofgem regulations, supplier policies, and government incentives for energy customers.

4. Sales Reporting & Pipeline Management



Maintain accurate records of sales activity, leads, and deal progress in the CRM system. Provide regular sales forecasts and performance reports to management. Track competitor pricing and strategies to identify new business opportunities.

5. Negotiation & Contract Management



Prepare and present energy contract proposals to potential clients. Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and renewal agreements to maximise customer value. Ensure compliance with Ofgem standards and energy supplier regulations when finalising contracts.

Required Skills & Experience



Proven experience in energy sales, preferably in gas and electricity supply, brokerage, or utilities management. Strong B2B and/or B2C sales experience with a track record of achieving targets. Excellent communication, negotiation, and closing skills. Knowledge of energy pricing models, market fluctuations, and supplier contracts. Ability to generate leads, nurture client relationships, and close high-value deals. Familiarity with CRM systems and sales reporting tools. Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team. Strong problem-solving skills and a consultative approach to sales. Full UK driving licence (if required for client visits).

Preferred Qualifications



Degree or certification in Business, Sales, Energy Management, or a related field (preferred but not essential). Experience in energy brokerage, energy procurement, or account management. Knowledge of government energy policies, Ofgem regulations, and sustainability incentives.
