Job Description

As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety program to ensure the well-being of all personnel and compliance to industry regulations. This role requires a dedicated professional committed to creating and maintaining a safe working environment in the challenging context of mining operations.

Key Responsibilities:



Policy Development:

Formulate and update safety policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices Implement systems to ensure effective communication of safety guidelines throughout the organization
Compliance Oversight:

Monitor and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal safety regulations Conduct regular audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement
Risk Management:

Lead risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement mitigation strategies Collaborate with operational teams to integrate safety measures into daily activities
Training and Education:

Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees at all levels Foster a culture of continuous learning by staying informed about emerging safety trends and technologies
Incident Investigation:

Manage and conduct thorough investigations into accidents, incidents, or near misses Analyze root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Emergency Preparedness:

Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring all personnel are adequately trained Coordinate drills to assess the effectiveness of emergency procedures
Safety Culture Promotion:

Work with leadership to cultivate a safety-conscious culture throughout the organization Encourage employee engagement and participation in safety initiatives

Minimum requirements:



Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field Relevant safety certification 3 years plus of progressive safety management experience in mining or heavy industry (Proven track record of successful safety program development and implementation) In-depth understanding of safety regulations applicable to the mining industry Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey safety information effectively Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire a safety-focused culture Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for incident investigations and risk assessments Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and navigate dynamic operational environments Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence safety initiatives at all levels For more information please contact:
