Job Description

Manufacturing Industry West Coast Cape Town Under the direction of the General Manager, oversee safety at work. The main tasks are to ensure the company follows the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Responsible for the general upkeep of the facility. Education:

• Vocational education or secondary school
• Occupational Health and Safety Act training and experience
• Knowledge of the English language -
• Ability to analyse situations and arrive at the best possible solution

Health and Safety management Responsible:

• Assessing and developing fall protection control measures and procedures based on identified work at height/ fall risk positions.
• SHE reports development for each department.
• Managing mandatory inspections for example fire extinguishers, first aid boxes, electrically operated power tools.
• Lifting equipment -keeping record of listing equipment servicing and communicating the needs for servicing with the maintenance department
• Managing and tracking current training and to flag any upcoming expiring training certification.
• Identifying and managing the correct appointments in terms of the South African legislation. This includes the monitoring and reviewing the organogram monthly to ensure ongoing compliance.

Managing incident and accidents

• Assist with leading incident and accident investigations in line with South African legislative requirements.
• Investigations to lead to root cause analysis and to provide the organisation with preventative measures to review and implementation.
• Assist with medical treatment cases and concluding investigations and claim

Reporting and Inspections

• Capture and distribute near miss reports.
• Compile quarterly statistics based on HSE lead indicators with the organisation.
• Managing hazards and risks within the organisation.
• Monthly review of risk assessments and safe working procedures
• Development of new safe working procedures and risk assessments for the new tasks, activities, or new environments.
• Quarterly inspections and reports
• Chair Health and Safety Committee meetings

Emergency Preparedness

• Assist with monitoring and reviewing existing evacuation plan routes.
• Assist with updating any outdated features of the evacuation plan.
• Assist with initiating and managing the evacuation drill.
• Compiling a report based on the positives and negatives of the drill and make recommendations for improvements.

Managing subcontractors

• Compiling and client specification for PFNonwovens for any contractors who wishes to become a preferred service provider.
• Assist with pre-vetting of contractors wishing to conduct work on PFNonwovens property.
• Conduct monthly audits of contractorxe2x80x99s documentation and to ensure they remain compliant.
• Induction of all contractors.

Facilities Management

• Planning and coordinating all installations and refurbishments.
• Managing the upkeep of equipment to meet health and safety standards.
• Inspection of building and structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations.

Provides:

• activity pursuant to the guidelines of the ISO 9001 and EMS 14001 systems
• all activities related to Occupational Health and Safety Act
