Job Description

Coordinates and controls the set-up, work in progress and completion of specialized tasks (construction of new roads, reconstruction and repairs to existing roads, trench reinstatements and access hardening), pertaining to the road making functions in the Road Rehabilitation /Asphalt Paving Branch
Key Responsibility Areas
Performs road making tasks associated with road rehabilitation and asphalt paving
Supervises the complete paving and milling operations, large scale road works which includes construction of new roads, reconstruction and repairs to existing roads, trench reinstatements and access hardening
Plans the required activities in the Branch and the utilization of necessary plant and material
Sets out traffic deviations at work sites and ensuring that these comply with the Department of Transport Road Traffic Act
Ensures that all work undertaken is in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Works from detailed plans and ensures work undertaken is completed in accordance with laid down specifications and quality standards

Trade Tested Artisan (Bricklayer)
Valid motor vehicle drivers license (Code EC1)
