JOB SUMMARY:



A vacancy exists within ARRB Systems SA (Pty) Ltd for a Road Safety Manager. This role involves coordinating with the project team, ensuring tasks are completed within scope, time, and budget, managing key project aspects including quality checks, planning, data analysis, and risk management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for team management,

stakeholder communication, reporting, and ensuring that road safety improvements are implemented effectively. Additionally, the role includes involvement in the tendering process and maintaining high customer service standards.


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS



Project Coordination & Management



Collaborate with project leads to define roles, scope, and tasks. Ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Track progress and report on project status to stakeholders. Ensure efficient planning for data collection and testing cycles. Perform data analysis and ensure consistent adherence to standards. Oversee the delivery of project milestones according to client requirements.

Team Management



Foster a high-performance culture and provide clear direction. Manage task delegation, training, and team development. Conduct regular performance reviews and manage team leave.

Client & Stakeholder Communication



Maintain transparent communication with internal teams and external stakeholders. Provide progress reports and facilitate client meetings professionally. Train team members on road safety principles and countermeasures.

Project Reporting & Documentation



Oversee the creation of comprehensive project reports and documentation. Ensure project records are organized and accessible. Sign off on final reports and documents for client submission.

Project Expenditure & Financial Management




Monitor and control project budgets in compliance with financial guidelines. Review tender documents and ensure financial due diligence. Risk Management & Problem Solving Identify potential risks early and develop mitigation strategies. Proactively manage technical risks throughout the project lifecycle. Business Development Participate in the tendering process and marketing discussions. Review and submit technical proposals and bids. Customer Service Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders. Address customer concerns and provide high-quality service in line with company values.

Education and Experience



B Tech / BSc in Civil Engineering. Professionally registered with Engineering Council of SA (ECSA). 10+ years of relevant operational experience working in similar engineering type projects and at least 4 years in a supervisory role. Professional certifications in Project Management (e.g. PMP) is advantageous. Professional certification in Road Safety (e.g., SARF RSA certification, iRAP accreditation, IRF Road Safety Team Leader, or similar). Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time, within budget, and to scope. Experience in team management, stakeholder communication, and client relations. Strong background in quality assurance, data analysis, and risk management. Familiarity with road safety standards and international best practices. Experience with tendering processes and preparing technical proposals is an advantage.

Skills and Knowledge



Sound knowledge and exposure to project management principles and methodologies. Sound knowledge of international and local road safety manuals and road signs. Familiarity with global road safety frameworks such as iRAP, Safe System, and Vision Zero. Strong understanding of road safety policies, crash data analysis, and non-destructive road-testing technologies. Technical expertise in geometric design, traffic management, and infrastructure safety improvements. Extensive knowledge of the full suite of standards, including RAMs. Familiarity with the COTO manuals. An understanding of asset management best practices. Knowledge of the latest applicable Division of Revenues Act (DORA). Excellent report writing and presentation skills. In-depth knowledge of quality management systems. Excellent team communication skills. Strong project management skills. Excellent leadership and team management abilities. Exceptional communication skills. Strong technical expertise. Strong risk management abilities. Proficient financial management skills. Excellent customer service and stakeholder management. Up-to-date industry knowledge. Proficient in MS Office Suite (intermediate to advanced level), particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Additional Requirements



Valid Driver's License minimum (Code EB). Valid Passport and willingness to travel for business purposes as required.
