This company is an investment management firm focussed on building long-term wealth for their clients. The company's primary goal is to achieve long term wealth creation for its clients.They now seek a senior risk specialist (risk analyst) to join their team. You will report to the head of risk.The role offers exposure across the full ambit of the financial services functions including retail, institutional and technology, providing opportunities for continued growth, learning and challenge over the tenure of your career. It forms part of a highly driven and collaborative team promoting a sound risk culture within the business enabling and supporting the group in achieving the strategic and operational objectives.JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

• You will be required to facilitate the risk processes (risk assessment, identification, management, reporting & optimisation) across the business including IT risk analysis, to identify and assess the risk to IT and applications;
• You will be required to engage with the business in identifying practical solutions to mitigate key risks and address control and process weaknesses identified;
• You will be required to remain close to business, engaging regularly and deeply understanding the risks and issues facing the business and the state of the control environment;
• You will be required to make pragmatic recommendations for control improvements on the systems and procedures being reviewed and reporting on these findings, open exposures and recommendations after discussing with management;
• You will be required to investigate risk incidents which include root cause analysis, rectification assessment, propose and test the design adequacy of control improvements;
• You will be required to perform risk assessments as part of various business projects and initiatives;
• You will be required to provide expert advice and consultancy with respect to risk management practices and concerns;
• You will be required to assist in the education of staff / promoting risk awareness throughout the group;
• You will be required to research and stay abreast of worldwide best practice and regulations;
• You will be required to work closely with the internal audit and compliance functions to provide a combined assurance assessment of the risk management within the firm.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• You have a relevant honours degree in commerce, information systems, or risk management;
• You are a CA(SA)- this would be a distinct advantage;
• You have a minimum of 5 years current, relevant related experience (enterprise-wide risk management) at an asset manager or financial services provider - this is preferred.
