Bidvest Tank Terminals has an opportunity for a Risk Manager. This opportunity exists within the Compliance Department, based in Head Office, reporting to the Compliance & Engagement Director. The candidate must meet the following minimum criteria.



The incumbent in this position will be responsible for the risk management of the business. The incumbent will also need to ensure that the organisation complies with all its regulatory and other statutory business commitments/requirements. The incumbent will further need to ensure that all risks arising from the business are adequately mitigated and measures/plans are in place to reduce or eliminate these risks.

Minimum Requirements




Relevant Bachelor's Degree is required



Preference will be given to individuals with a degree in or which includes the following fields:



Risk Management



Compliance



Corporate GovernanceLaw



Any professional certification in the field of Risk Management will be advantageous



Minimum 10 years' experience within the Risk Management and/or Compliance field of which at least 5 years should have been in a management role



Good understanding of SHEQ systems (ISO45001, ISO14001 & ISO9001)



Experience in the chemical/petro-chemical industry would be advantageous



Experience in Bulk Gas Storage Facility/Terminal Operations would be advantageous



Good understanding of industry applicable regulations & legislation (Bulk Liquid & Gas Storage & Handling Industry)



Experience in dealing with external stakeholders

Duties and Responsibilities




Ensure that all Incidents/CAR's in your area of responsibility are reported, investigated and learnings



are disseminated



Design, implement and lead a risk management strategy for the organisation



Develop and manage the company risk management program



Develop and maintain a risk management standard



Develop and update an enterprise business risk register



Ensure good corporate governance involving external risk reporting to stakeholders



Develop and maintain a business continuity plan to limit business risks



Review all strategic risks including contracts and flag these risks to the relevant stakeholders



Fulfilling the Railway Safety Nominated duties in line with National Railway Safety Regulator Act and SANS 3000 series standards



Monitoring and ensuring continuous compliance with safety regulations and best practices, working closely with regulators (like the RSR, TFR) and other stakeholders



Ensure that all Risk and Compliance requirements are captured in the Integrated Management System (IMS)



Track laws and regulations that might affect the organisation's Integrated Management System (IMS) and implement necessary changes



Participate on all internal and external audits and ensure all findings applicable to your department are tracked, updated and closed off



Responsible for the Insurance administration and reporting to Compendium



Promote corporate assurance by educating for awareness on matters such as fraud and corruption to minimise opportunity for fraudulent and or corrupt activities across the business



Conduct ethical training



Prepare relevant policy, procedures and engagement strategies for audit, risk, and legislative compliance



Develop and maintain a reporting matrix for all statutory reporting



Submit compliance reports to the relevant regulatory authorities



Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance

Business acumen - Ability to understand broader business issues



Excellent, problem solving, analytical, strategic thinking and project management skills
