Job Description

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Our client is a small, growing retail group specialising in footwear and apparel. They pride themselves on strong brands, excellent customer service, and hands-on leadership.
We need a Retail Store Manager who can be trusted with the keys, the till, the team, and the overall performance of the store.
This position is available immediately, and we aim to finalise placement in December. The ideal candidate will step confidently into a leadership role that covers people, operations, stock, and customer experience - keeping the store running smoothly, safely, and profitably.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR A reliable, experienced retail leader who brings:

  • Minimum 2+ years as a Store Manager or Supervisor in retail.
  • Experience in footwear or apparel (highly beneficial).
  • A proven, impeccable track record -- trustworthy, disciplined, and consistent.
  • Strong computer literacy, especially with POS systems and retail administration.
  • Experience in cash-ups, opening/closing procedures, scheduling, and stock management.
  • Ability to supervise the floor, drive service excellence, and manage staff performance.
  • A passion for retail -- essential, as retail hours are demanding.
  • Own car preferred (travel between stores required).
  • Open to all demographics (preference: male).
  • Salary cap: R25 000 (negotiable for the perfect candidate).
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
1. People & Leadership
  • Lead, train, coach, and motivate the store team.
  • Manage staff schedules, attendance, leave, and performance.
  • Create a positive, accountable, service-driven store culture.
2. Store Operations
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures daily.
  • Complete accurate cash-ups and banking.
  • Maintain high standards of store presentation and customer experience.
  • Ensure compliance with operational processes and company policies.
3. Stock & Inventory Control
  • Receive and process stock accurately on the system.
  • Handle IBTs, returns, and stock adjustments.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and manage shrinkage.
  • Keep stockrooms organised and produce strong floor displays.
4. Merchandising & Buying Support
  • Assist with seasonal buying and product selection.
  • Use sales insights to suggest replenishment and range opportunities.
  • Ensure merchandising meets brand and store standards.
5. Reporting
  • Prepare monthly sales, stock, and performance reports.
  • Track KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement.
WHEN & WHERE
  • Based primarily at Woodmead (Johannesburg), with occasional support at the Boksburg store.
  • Retail hours include weekends, public holidays, and peak-season extended trading times.
  • Start date: Immediate (December appointment preferred).
