Job Description

A fast paced, FSA accredited, successful family run, wholesale bakery serving the needs of the retail, food service and hospitality industry, as well as regional and national distributors in South Africa is looking to employ the services and skills of a retail and hospitality experienced departmental / store supervisor in a food manufacturing environment for and not subject to the following;

Duties and Responsibilities:



Assist in delivering bakery, deli and merchandising training.

Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with your team and encourage mutual trust, respect and cooperation.

Counsel and conduct developmental meetings when necessary.

Direct, drive and meet sales with a goal of increased profitability growth.

Purchasing, management and control of inventory; stock checks; exercise the first in first out principal and control wastage.

Exercise hygiene control and maintain excellent housekeeping protocols in compliance with GMP and assign individuals to this.

Serve as the leader, role model and coach to management.

Build and maintain relationships with all teams.

Input plans, conduct team meetings, merchandising planograms to give the client the best opportunity at purchasing.

Share current industry trends and changes with retailers.

Signing off on invoices, timesheets and checklists and draft duty roster.

Key Requirements:



Grade 12

Relevant preferred qualification.

Relevant FMCG Industry Experience.

3 to 5 years experience as a Retail Store and Bakery Supervisor.

3 years experience in the Management, Supervisory or Team Leading of staff.

Good knowledge of Disciplinary processes or procedures.

Excellent knowledge of bakery products, bakery operations and bakery equipment.

Excellent knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.

Good understanding and knowledge of the flow and shelf life of product, what to sell and promote faster vs longer shelf life products.

Excellent knowledge of customer deliverables and the impact of failure / cost of poor quality.

Ability to achieve results by setting high standards and committing to clear objectives to accomplish assigned duties.

Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes and cope under pressure and setbacks.

Basic knowledge of First Aid (Advantageous)
