Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 8 years in a similar operations manager position
  • Ability to travel between Cape Town and Gauteng on a regular cycle.
  • Retail Operations qualification will be an advantage
  • Ability to manage and develop a positive and productive management team.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to drive and motivate performance. through effective coaching skills and people management.
  • Demonstrable and strong business acumen.
  • Highly organised with the ability to adapt quickly to strategic change.
  • Self-starter ability to work unsupervised, manage own time and activities.
  • Exceptional communicator.
  • A strong understanding of e-commerce and digital marketing will be a great advantage.
  • Previous multi-site area/retail management experience.
Duties and responsibilities:
Store Leadership:
  • Pro-actively contribute to the formulation and direction of the retail strategy and implements projects for Retail as requested.
  • Identifies under-performing stores and develop a business plan to address and manage issues effectively.
  • Identifies, prioritises and pursues store acquisition, relocation and disposal opportunities in conjunction with the General Manager.
  • Seeks and continuously develops own knowledge of competitor activity and local market conditions, with the purpose of making appropriate and innovative recommendations to drive the business forward.
  • Excellent brand and product knowledge to improve and enhance performance and drive customer experience.
People Management:
  • Clearly and concisely communicate business and business objectives to managers so that they remain well informed of business activity and of their required contribution to targets.
  • Achieves exceptional customer service levels through the development and training of store staff.
  • Develops an effective network of communication across the business to ensure shared knowledge and understanding of business activity
  • Recruits accurately profiled store staff and ensures the full implementation of induction programmes for new store managers
  • Effectively manages the performance and development of store managers to drive and maximise the sales performance throughout the business
  • Manage any employee relations issues which may arise within the business, including the counselling, discipline and grievance processes
  • Plans for succession in the business through the identification of individuals with potential for development and growth
  • Creates a positive environment that results in employee retention and a reduction of staff turnover.
Profitability:
  • Effectively manages the P&L within allocated budget in order to affect a profitable performance for each store.
  • Manages payroll budgets in line with business budgetary parameters
Store Presentation:
  • Liaises with the Buying and Merchandising teams regarding the supply of stock in the business to maximise stock potential
  • Collates and provides constructive feedback on fast and slow-selling stock items
  • Ensures that the visual presentation of all stores represents the brand image as per the directives received
  • Supports the delivery of all promotional campaigns
Stock Control & Security:
  • Ensures that all stores adhere to compliance requirements in all areas of operational activity, company policies and procedures.
  • Achieves stock control targets in line with company guidelines to prevent financial loss.
  • Stocktake preparation, management & analysis for each store on a cycle.
  • Expert level understanding of our point-of-sale system.
Customer Service:
  • Supports the management of customer service activities and staff competence so as to optimise and sustain sales performance and customer satisfaction.
Event & Activation RetailEvent & Activation Retail Event & Activation Retail:
  • The management, set up and operation of mobile sales at sponsored events, trade shows and brand activations working in collaboration with marketing.
