IT Manager

This roll entails managing of an IT team in Midrand. Responsible for the IT infrastructure and software for 140 retail stores nationally and Head Office. He/she will also be responsible for managing External software developers and driving Dev-Ops topics. Hands on IT skills are a must.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Work in close partnership with the Group Executives in full support of the strategic IT and business objective for the Group
  • Participate in the development of IT strategies collaboration with the leadership team
  • Develop, maintain, support, and optimize key functional areas, including but not limited to:
  • Network infrastructure
  • Server infrastructure
  • Cloud infrastructure and services
  • Database infrastructure
  • Supporting data communications
  • Telecommunications systems
  • Effectively develop, plan, implement and maintain IT infrastructure strategies, architecture, policies, and procedures
  • Build and maintain close working relationship with internal stakeholders and establish service level agreements with business units
  • Acquire, deploy, and manage supplier, vendor and contractor relationships to ensure service that meets business requirements and objectives.
  • Manage the operational requirements of the function which include:
  • Setting priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems including software development of in-house applications.
  • Managing Software development with 3rd party developers.
  • Conducting feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions
  • Defining hardware and software standards
  • Regularly testing network and server performance
  • Develop strategies for maintaining network and server infrastructure
  • Schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and Software problems in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Establish and maintain regular reporting on the status and stability of infrastructure
  • Manage the budget and operational costs for your area of responsibility
  • Lead, manage and develop a high performing team to ensure the optimal performance of the function and team members
  • Driving continuous improvement and self-development
  • Executing and delivering on ad-hoc duties and responsibilities
Qualifications and Experience Required
  • Matric with a relevant tertiary qualification
  • Minimum of 10 years proven experience in an IT role with 5 years managerial experience
  • Sound working knowledge of Linux, Cloud and Database administration
